Ship Design Philosophy

Spacecraft: Cargo, Shipping Space and Ground Vehicles

1. What's the volume of a Mini Cooper?

2. Convertible: L x W x H: 3863 x 1727 x 1415 mm

3. And if we leave the top down, less.

4.
mini-cabrio-2021.jpg

5. Let's say two metres, by two metres, by one metre.

6. That would be four cubic metres.

7. Maybe, even three and a half cubic metres.

8. Equivalent to a spacecraft volume of a quarter tonne.

9. Which, if clamped externally to the spacecraft hull, is how much the engines' load would increase.
And I get crap because things are the wrong scale... even just by the numbers on the screen (narrow width) it's 9.44 and it's going to be at least a full dton to store unless you're either melting it, putting it through a compactor (to get your 1x1x2 estimate), or using it as a cargo carrier -in which case you'd still need the same volume, but rather then melting it, you can pack it in a container of skittles. (New question: How many skittles does a Mini Cooper displace? Winner gets all the pennies in this here jar-if they can guess how many of those are in that there jar... that used to hold pickles.)

I simplified the maths.

Actually, the point is, since spacecraft engineering performance is based on volume, if I attached it to a torpedo grapple under the cheep (since two torpedoes are two third of a tonne), I can use it to airlift ground vehicles around.

If I did like the dropship from Aliens, in an internal vehicle bay, then I'd have to use shipping tonnes for volume calculation.

Spacecraft: Life Support, Oxygen Regeneration, and Carbon Upcycling Technologies - CO₂ to Graphene Reactors

Carbon Upcycling Technologies, previously JRE Petroleum Services, has developed a technology that captures CO₂, combines it with graphite and converts it into graphene. The technology required is small and easily implemented by producers with high CO₂ emissions from a variety of industries. The graphene product created from the process is a brand new family of nanoparticle. The uses for graphene are continually being developed and represent significant potential.

Carbon Upcycling Technologies process aims to convert CO₂ into graphene, an allotrope of carbon. To accomplish this conversion, a mill reactor is used to process CO₂ and graphite into the high-quality graphene. The feed CO₂ may be in a gaseous state or in a dry-ice state. The resulting reaction with graphite produces carboxylated layers of graphene that can be used for adding mechanical strength to cement or for use in water-purification membranes. While many GHG reduction methods involve storage or conversion into another fuel—only delaying CO₂ emission—this process binds the CO₂ into the graphene structure, serving to create a new family of nanoparticle.

1. Miniaturize it.

2. Seems ideal for space stations.

3. Like when they placed buckets all over the city to collect urine for laundry.

4. Get everyone to breathe, and create graphene sheets.

5. Maybe, laid down in honeycombs.

6. Like bee hives.

7. Profit!

8. Breathe.

9. Repeat.

Spacecraft: Life Support, Oxygen Regeneration, and Carbon Upcycling Technologies - CO₂ to Graphene Reactors

A. The idea I originally came up with, was to transfer the carbon from the carbon dioxide molecule, to two water molecules, and release the two oxygen atoms, recombine them into dioxide.

B. In theory, you now have two dioxide molecules, that your body can transform into two molecules of carbon dioxide.

C. And, methane gas, which can be processed into refined fuel.

D. But, I thought, this is probably over complicated.

E. And, what we want, is removing the carbon atom, and directly transforming it to a solid pure carbon form.

F. I assume you can use graphene to print stuff.

It's not a solid slab.

You have the chassis, transmission, engine, tank, and side walls.

Then the seats and the rest is air.

The torpedoes grapples are rated for two torpedoes with two thirds of a tonne volume; some modification, and they can probably grip that volume.

If the car had a top, it would be considered an enclosed space.

Though, if I lowered the windows, that becomes a grey area.

I would have thought more Dan Dare bullet shaped rocketships.

Though, that may have been more Thirties and Forties.

I think there is, some internal issues Ireland has to work through, not necessarily out, and some indication that there externally financed agent provocateurs pushing stuff, like everywhere else.

Starwarships: Concept Design Overview - ZT 800 Mk II: Star Wars Ship - Technouveau 0010

This video is about the design process - and gives an overview of - my Star Wars inspired Corellian design, the ZT-800 Mk II. I will share screenshots, videos, sketching and some views of the blender 3D model to best explain how it relates to the venerable and famous Millenium Falcon design, how it differs, and what my general thoughts were during the design process.

Let’s design the future!

1. You extend the hull forwards and backwards, maintaining the centre as the frame.

2. A little short of five percent for aerofins.

3. Maintains it's role as interstellar forklift.

4. I think that for airlocks, one size doesn't fit all, and that you could design them around a single vacuum suit, like a backdoor.

5. If you add bulk, you do have additional hardpoint slots.

6. Though, I'm of the opinion that splitting it up into three firmpoints gives additional flexibility, more in the defensive sense.

7. Canon examples have a lot of double turrets.

8. Having an independent turret, allows more targets.

9. Though, this is usually at the cost of extra gunners, and volume, and some loss of (individual) capability.

1. I think that the hulls are interesting but over complex.

2. At that point, you probably need a force field to protect it.

3. Probably should come up with various armour factor graded transparent materials, for windscreens and portholes.

Interesting video, wish they would ease up on the light greebles. If they are used too much it hurts the overall feel in my opinion. :)

Startrucks: Command Centres, Cockpits, and Bridging the Divide

1. Do I really care if a two kilotonne hull can be controlled by a double cockpit?

2. No.

3. Only in the sense if this is canon, and the rationale behind it.

4. I was screwing around with ship designs on Ultimate Admiral.

5. Hulls have a sort of fixed configuration, but modified by tonnage, depth and breadth.

6. There's an optimal speed rating, and I'd say ship handling based on centre of gravity, pitch, and roll.

7. I'm pretty sure an unbalanced spacecraft design would be subject to something similar.

8. Apparently, a warship needs two towers to be controlled.

9. And increasingly becomes to dominate the skyline.

Starwarships: This starship is a sleeper

The Onyx Cinder might look like a beat up freighter, but there are a lot of interesting design choices that went into this vessel, that makes it almost perfect for piracy.

1. The series is surprisingly entertaining, after you get past Suburgatory.

2. If Goonies.

3. End user certificate.

4. Corvette.

5. Armed sloop?

6. Limited lifter acceleration.

7. Reactionary rockets?

8. Self destruct option.

9, Off set cockpit.

A. placement of crew quarters.

B. It could be Kilingon captains don't really trust their crews, either.
