Ship Compartmentalization

For those who are interested in what it might look like for the interior of a starship, check out this set of pics from the Bangladeshi ship graveyard:

I believe the first picture is from the stern of a ship, and you can see how they compartmentalize it. I would assume a starship would be somewhat similar - thick external hull, many internal compartments that are quarters, life support, ships locker, armories, labs, etc.

If you have ever been on a cruise they are somewhat similar, though the long corridors for rooms and the open areas for restaurant and such are distinctly different than what you find on freighters or even military ships.

Hi,

Thanks for posting the link.

On the topic of ship subdivision, here are some deck plans that I once drew up for a Mongoose Traveller 2000 ft starship using the main rule book and the add-ons for non capital ships from High Guard.

Since I had chosen to both Armor and Reinforce the hull I was left trying to decide how to incorporate this into the Deck Plans. After doing some calcs, if realized that by drawing both the Hull and external Armor as about 1/2 a deck square wide and also adding some internal major bulkheads (about 1 deck square in depth) this would equate to about the same volume as listed by the rules for my ship. In addition I've assumed that the decks are about 1/2 m deep.

I figured that the bulkheads and decks would allow the ship to be sealed off into sections in the event of a hull breach or to lock down certain spaces. In addition one of the major bulkheads included was placed kind of close to the bow to serve kind of like a "collision" bulkhead to helpe limit damage in the event that the ship were to ram or run into something.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the images if anyone is interested.
