Shianti Sorceror Progression Tables

SilverOwl

Mongoose
Hey there...

I have used the search feature to 6 pages deep and not found anyone else with this problem yet...

The Shianti Sorceror has errors in it's Base Magical Damage and probably the Willpower Score increase past Level 7. While I could invent a progression of my own, I thought I'd try to get a more official answer if possible. I even tried buying the "reprinted/revised" soft-cover of the main book direct from Mongoose, but they shipped me a hard-cover instead

Could someone either direct me to a post I missed or else offer an official Base Magical Damage progression table if one exists?

Thanks!

I thought I read somewhere (maybe it was on the currently down tots forum or maybe on aon) that the blip in one of the tables - i thi kthe shianti - was actually deliberate, that there was some logic behind having that reduction of power there!

I oculd be mistaken...

No it was definetly mentioned somewhere (I though here) that it was related to the odd nature of magics and gaining power.

EDIT: found it

... VERY kindly for finding that for me. Apologies for missing it, but I didn't know what I was really looking for and had gone to page 6 or 7 trawling through my own search results :)

Personally, I find the rationale and idea behind the variable values intriguing, and may consider implementing something like that in my game, but I don't see how crippling a spell-caster's primary combat influence for 4 straight levels before he's back to where he was helps out that much... Perhaps varying it for a level and then completely restoring it to it's original progress would work better?

It also bothers me mildy that with that as the justification, "nothing happens" to base damage at the level they get Assimilation (10th).

I will probably have a "random element" come into play (possibly a small roll now and then at key stressful times) in my own game, allowing damage to fluctuate up or down. And I'll adjust the chart to keep it's "normal" progression".

Which will address another minor annoyance of mine: the fact that otherwise there is little point to casting the actual damage spells since the Wizard's Staff remains the damage-doing tool of choice... Now at least my spellcasters will eventually exceed the Staff at higher levels.

But THANKS for finding that for me!
