Shadows

Mongoose
this is probebly an obvious question, but some of the shadows ships have a 6+ dodge, doesn't this make them impossible to kill, excpet for a few select ships?

dodge is the target number you need to roll to avoid getting hit so a 6+ dodge is the same as a 6+ save in 40K etc

:)

Although two people have already answered this, to get my post count higher, I've decided to answer it as well with an example.

The Shadow Scout has 6+ Dodge (and incidentally Hull 5).

a. Say I shoot it with a weapon that has 4 attack dice.
b. I roll the following: 4, 6, 2, 5
c. My weapon has no traits so I need 5's or more to hit it...that makes 2 hits!
d. But wait, the shadow player has Dodge 6+, he gets to roll 1 die per hit to see if he dodges...he rolls: 5, 6
e. He rolled (one) which means he "dodged" one of the hits! You can see however that if he rolled no sixes then both would have hit him with damage applied normally.

Does that make sense?

Hehe i love misconceptions like that, not really paying ttention at one point we thought sheilds stopped damage not hits, ended up almost costing me a match gainst the traveler at one point.

Although 3 people have answered this and one given an example, I'm going to give another to get my post count higher. Plus Hash forgot about stealth. So here goes...

a. Say I shot it with a weapon that has 4 attack dice.
b. I am within 8" but don't have any scouts so his stealth target is 4+.
c. I roll a 1. I fail.
