Shadow Omega Advanced Command Destroyer - Armageddon

When creating these stats I began with the regular Omega Command Destroyer and attempted to mimic the way the Shadow Omega seemed to grow from the basic Omega Destroyer. It was kind of interesting how it seemed to result in a ship whose "power" level or suck factor approaches that of the yet to be boosted Nemesis.

whilst I applaud your attempts, I have to say, umm, why? The Nemesis was the logical progression of the shadow omega, and with it's proposed shields is now vaguely useful too.

anyhow, I actually think this ship is on the weak side, the beam range is too short, and it's damage to low.

If you wish to go ahead with it, consider a longer range main beam, and more secondaries, also consider shields such as those proposed for the nemesis, also you could replace the t-bolts with shadow furies for good dogfighting?

of course then it becomes a nemesis almost. how about drop its damage and give it stealth? huge thing on a armageddon ship for sure, but then with advanced shadow technology added to existing delphi stealth tech who knows. stealth 4+, means it can bring it's current shortish range beam in under cover of um, errr, well stealth lol

Why? Well for one I am currently stuck with two Shadow Omega and two Omega Command Destroyer models. The idea of applying the "Shadow tendrils" to an Omega Command Destroyer model have come to mind, thus "liberating" a basic Omega Destroyer model.

I agree the ship is a bit on the weak side. Very much in character I would say if one considers the current Shadow Omega stats. If the Shadow Omega stats represents what happens when Shadow tech is applied to an Omega Destroyer, applying Shadow tech to an Omega Command Destroyer won't create anything better than these stats. Yep, the decreased beam range and loss of the aft beam compared to the base model does hurt it very much while forward and aft arc armament is just pitiful.

As with the proposed Nemesis fix, the addition of shields would make it somewhat useful and better balanced. And I would also think it would be appropriate to have the shields fix migrated to the Shadow Omega.

Whole thread around here on how to make the shadow omega feel more right, a bit part of which was shields (it has the tendrils which were the power absorbers/dispersers after all), longer beam, and restoration of the rear beam.

Nothing wrong with a command SO, while the nemisis might be the logical expansion I could easily see one of the scattered black ops yards 'shadowing' a fleeing command omega, while waiting for contact with other parts of the hidden organization.

All depends on how you see the psi corp. I see them in the post clark period as a scattered group of blacks ops forces and yards and research facilities lightly united by the psi corp, who would be the only ones to have snatched the knowledge of where to find them all.

They could be kept in the dark about each other until the psi corp found a use for them. They very likely would encourage each individual cell to develop it's own work.

It gives them a variety of warships to throw out, making it harder to make a case for them being an organized force that needs to be eradicated rather than a scattered bunch of hold outs that need to be cleansed whenever bumped into.

I guess I'll have to join the crowd then. Flight Computer, Advanced Jump Engines and Self-Repair are all nice enhancements compared to the Omega Destroyer but they do not compensate for the double whammy of losing both range 30 and the aft beam. Either one would probably have been ok but both is too much. If that's how its gonna be, another boost is needed as compensation. And the additon of shields seems as good an option as any.

The Shadow Omega Command Destroyer could have been projected at the same time as the Shadow Omegas. Seems Clark might well have appreciated the value of a powerful command ship staffed with his most rabid loyalists while able to keep up with his elite force of Shadow Omegas. And at this period in time the command ship of choice to boost with Shadow tech would have been the Omega Command Destroyer. As the Warlock was not commissioned yet.

When Sheridan suddenly forced Clark's hand it's may well have been that the Shadow Omega Command Destroyer was not ready to be deployed. It was after all based on a later, slightly more complex design available in fewer numbers than the Omega Destroyer. Instead as you say, it or they might have been quietly removed from the radars awaiting completion.

One might also note that the Command trait was scrapped when the Warlock was converted into the Nemesis. Presumably the vacated space was instead occupied by other systems better needed. This even considering the apparent lack of any Psi Corps command ships in their current roster. Perhaps this removal was because there was in fact already a Psi Corps ship which could fulfill the command role.

I agree variety is good. And since the Nemesis does not seem a very powerful ship, another armageddon choice for the Psi Corps of similar strength as the Nemesis would hardly be unbalancing. Also, to put a Shadow Omega Command Destroyer into actual production would hardly break the bank. As every would be piece of it has already been made.

If the shields progress to the shadow omega, they should go to the hunter as well. I'd be willing to lose the stealth for shields. And just going from the models, if the spines are the "shields" then the shadow omega and hunter should get better ones then the nemesis, though I know thats not gonna happen.

Just putting them on the nemesis makes it actually worth taking. But the hunter needs a little something more. It doesnt have interceptors itself and the stealth 3 is almost no stealth at all, most of the time. And while the beam is awsome compared to what earthforce usualy gets in the way of beams, its the only weapon the ship has which really hurts. If you CBD you cant shoot at all, and any weapon crits will take out its only weapon. So shields would really help since they could block some crits.

The shadow omega I could see with low shields since earthforce probably didnt really know how to work with the tech yet, but the hunter should be just as advanced as the nemesis, probably more since it has a better beam plus more and larger spines.

Yeah, shadows seem to get as the 'shadowy' tech shields and low stealth.

The spines in the aog stats were energy disapaters (sp? can't be bothered right now), this has translated to ACtA as shields.

Like the Command rational... didn't notice that the Nemesis didn't have it.

Hunter, this is a pretty good ship, I'd be really careful adding to it. I tend to agree that it should have more shadowy tech... but if I remember from the appearance it was hard to see/lock on to. Thus the low stealth maybe? Could be wrong as I don't have access to that bit.

Low stealth is really worthless inside 20, but it is a bonus in the initial turn or late in a battle when you get down to only one or two ships. Ones are rolled at critical moments, and once the fighters and scouts are thinned out... So you have to take into account you do have a defense.

If you were to give it shields I would drop the damage points by slightly more than the shield trait/plus regen. A bit like the how the Abbai got their shields. It would really help vs light missile attacks and other sniper type attacks, so you have to lose overall, even if the ship is slightly undergunned/defended for your preference.

I suppose. maybe if it had a stealth of 4 instead of 3 that would be good enough. I play against narn quite a bit so thats why I wish it had shields instead, but he does seem to fail some stealth rolls once in awhile, even up close. I just think if your gonna give it shadow tech, dont do it half way. If psi corp has access to the shielding tech why wouldnt they use it? If they werent gonna use it then why put the spines on the ship.

I agree... but keep in mind, Psi Corp isn't a consistent fleet to start with. Not all the ship yards may have access to the same tech. Just a thought.

Some shields would be cool though... just have to give back some damage to get them.
