(and funny thing is, he used the Mongoose character generator and made up the best character of the lot before saying how much he hated it and refused to play the game  )

Mongoose Character Generator??
Sorry, poor word choice.

Go to the Mongoose's Conan home page: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/series.php?qsSeries=7

Scroll down to the "Free Downloads Section" and there's a listing under Conan - The RPG - Atlantean Edition titled "Form Fillable Character Sheet - Electronic updatable character sheet for the Conan RPG (744 Kb)"

Ah. Yes... aware of that one. Thanks!

Shadizar is great, the info about the city is awesome, and is one of my favorites settings.

Planning to buy Black Kingdoms too.

I haven't picked up Tales of the Black Kingdoms yet, but it is on the list.

Shadizar overall - 4/10

Book I: Excellent. This book alone I would give an 8.5. It stands up well to Mr. Darlage's other excellent source material.

Book II: Since I don't use d20 for my system (Roleamster is my system of choice), this book held absolutely no appeal for me. It is basically a bunch of stats and feats. Since I don't use the system, I can't really grade the material.

Book III: I really think there were some decent ideas in the adventure, but the execution was atrocious. 2/10

Maps: Aside from the plagarized map, the other maps were poor as well. There were maps of areas you don't need a map for, and maps missing for areas that you do. I have emailed twice for my replacement map, but have yet to recieve it. While the replacement .pdf is okay, it still does not represent the city well. The descriptions in Book I do not match the layout of the city on the new map. 1/10

Counters: The counters were nice. The artwork was decent and the idea is great. 8/10

Same here.

That's what they emailed me a few months back - they were going to print some more maps and when that was done they would mail them out.

But, your advice is sound LBH. Mayhap, I'll email them again. My group may end up in Shadizar someday... :)
Sorry, I haven't been on the boards lately, my group voted to kill the game play.

Emailing again sounds fine guys, it doesn't cost anything to email and pestering Mongoose reminds them that there are people who want the maps when they're re-printed. And good luck getting the map!

I don't remember what book 2 is--[edit: looked up Product Description]. I really like the way the city is described, laid out, the Jordan inferences on the Desert, the Merchants' Quarter, caravans, & etc. The boxed set also gives hints at the least about the other locations of Zamora for you to develop as you wish, often referencing the sources that inspired their location. The stats for NPCs & monsters may be very useful too.
Here I'll post the product page for reference (I do it out of habit):

Anyways, hope this helps.
I wrote this back on page 2 of this thread. For what it's worth, I'd give this book 8 out of 10 (less if you don't play the OGL Mongoose game, though I can't figure out why you bought this product if that's the case. Anyways, hope this helps. :D
