Shadizar Map - Get It Here!

To stand up for the 'goose, I got my copy pretty quickly when I e-mailed them in response to the notification that they were available.
I'm no playtester, employee, or otherwise associated with the company.
Can't understand why so many people haven't had any luck with them.. :?

Let's grudgingly look at this with logic. It may simply be a question of how many units of Shadizar sold, versus the cost of re-running on multiple occasions the revised map. After an intitial print run of shadizar, they had to rerun the map. Once those supplies were out, is it feasible to reprint the map without starting to consume the profits from Shadizar?

Not happy about not having the new map, but I can't complain over much as my players never need to see a map that big anyway.

The thing is very clear.
They sent a first batch of new map and it's now out of print. To reduce their expenses they're just waiting that enough guys ask for a map and make a 2nd printing worth.

Playing board wargames, you should know that most companies only print a game when 350-500 buyers are already prepared to buy it (with a banking card). You have an explanation there: http://www.gmtgames.com/p500/gmtp5d.htm

I suppose Mongosse is just doing the same. (All the more as they send it free).

What I am criticising is the lousy information flow!
Nobody would have said anything if Mongoose announced:"Sorry, there has been an error. We cannot afford to send maps now. We keep in touch!"

Well actually they said that they will be in touch, but this was a hollow promise. Instead they wait until the thread disappears into the depths of the forum.

I agree with you on one point: though Mongoose has a good customer service, there communication could be improved.

I too must unfortunately camp with those who have still not yet received their map.

I love what MP has done with the Conan game and still wish to support it as best I can. But this has been a thorn in my side for some time now and still patiently await resolution.

I bought the Shadizar boxed set last week and emailed Mongoose about the replacement map. They said that currently it is out of print and that my name would be added to a list so that once new ones are printed I would get one.

I think that it is good that Mongoose is doing this in the first place. They could just have not said anything about it being the wrong map and not offered a replacement.

For right now, I have a high res map of Shadizar that they sent to me by email. And I plan to use the incorrect map as the layout for my own city on the Hyborian continent.

So whether I get the correct paper map or not, I am still using everything in the boxed set that I bought. :D

I am also on said list. But haven't heard anything new on this front. I wouldn't hold your breath. Just use the downloaded map or go to an Office Supply store and get a big one printed.

I've given up on getting a map, but I still like Conan :)

I don't suppose there is anybody out there who has a pdf of the replacement map?

I picked the box set up on Ebay a couple of days ago and lo, it has the original 'controversial' map.

Anyone can help me out please PM me.

If you guys wanna PM me with your email addresses, I can send you the map once I get home from work this evening.

Be forewarned, though, the replacement map isn't 100% accurate...mainly because of the big river it shows running right through the center of the city. From what I remember, nowhere in the set is such a river mentioned.

Still it's a nice looking little map and can easily be used to represent a different city if the whole river thing bothers you.

Best,

Kev
