Serious problem with Book 9 Robot -- Mongoose input needed

Mongoose
Maybe I missed it, but I'm surprised more people haven't asked about the obvious issues with Book 9. The slot system COULD work, but I feel like some key rule is missing or some table got edited incorrectly. Regardless, I hope Mongoose does the right thing and addresses this.

The basic issue is how do you fit even the limbs on a Size 3 robot? Size 3 arms and legs (2 each) take up 16 slots. The size 3 frame has only 10. Moreover, the Service Bot example has items worth 34 slots but only 12 available! How is that possible?

Help!

There was a whole thread about this. The rules have gaping holes in them preventing one from designing something that could be used in any standard MGT game, as there is too much left to guesswork by individual GM's.

Yeah - seen this one or a variant many times on the forums.

Wonder if anyone has actually PMed Matt, though. There are so many threads, I wouldn't expect Mongoose folks to catch every thread, much less read them all.

I seem to recall Robots being unclear on 'slots' as well as not being consistent in the sense of being able to even come close to existing designs (prices/features?) - but I don't have the book.

I doubt Matt hasn't read that rule book...

Probably - but maybe never tried to actually use it. Or already knows the answer!

(Not that I'm suggesting bugging the heck out of him over a rule detail!)

Since there were similar problems with the vehicle design system, this
obviously is not a series of bugs, it is a series of features, introduced
to encourage the referees to be creative and come up with their own
innovative solutions to the challenges offered by Mongoose's rules. 8)

I am too lazy for challenges, I design my settings' stuff with GURPS ...

Are you posting from Microsoft HQ in Germany?

I would guess they are being quiet because all these design issues are, hopefully, getting fixed in the upcoming new system design book.

Still, I hope they are at least going to have the new system play tested with actual use! Pretty much all of the identified problems would have been spotted with decently comprehensive play testing.

Until then, I will continue to use the rule I always default to, since it works 97% of the time for my games, common sense.

So if it looks like it should work, and the "system" says it doesn't, it works anyways.

Granted, that doesn't help people who want a unified rules system that rules all gaming groups everywhere, but it works for personal games.

I noticed the same thing.
I just simply allow 2 arms and 2 legs for free.
Mongoose is really bad about missing basic yet big problems at times...

No, I have problems with Mac OS, and there seems to be not a single PC
running Windows in their HQ ...
