I don't know how many potential players are also 40k fans, but just in case, there are two clashes I know of.

10 May is A Small Matter of Honour, The Sad Muppet Society's annual 40k tourney.

31 May is the first day of SVA, Spiky Club's annual 40k campiagn weekend.

never meet anyone who also plays 40k tournies and ACTA
Interesting...how do they compare?

In spite of all discussion about how broken 40k is, I think it is generally more balanced than CTA. All races have a chance against each other, while I think it is almost impossible for some matchups in CTA.
Dilgar vs ISA for example. Never a fun game for the Dilgar player.
IMHO ISA and Minbari are the two power fleets in CTA. (I'm not counting Gaim, as Mongoose have realised they are so broken they banned them from their own event.)

I'm one person who plays both (only a few 40k tournies a year and no other games at all). 40k is far more competative across the board, sometimes with some slightly unfair stuff going on at the top tables. However, if you are a competitive player then the competition is excellent and they're good fun. ACtA has fewer power (priority on winning but not necessarily to the exclusion of fun) players but they normally still make up about 25% of players. It's this set of competitive players that normally drive game balance and is one of the reasons 40k is about as balanced as you're going to get a game (Tau Mech and Nidzilla armies are still hard as nails but most other stuff is fair game).
