Sector 301- Patrol Team: Juliet

Mongoose
Just thought I would post some quick pics of models I have painted for our family game night.
Ok, so I gave them a nice wash of brown. I think it dulled the gold too much, what do you all think?

First is the model my daughter uses. Judge Jeffrey. The Psi of the team.

Next is the all arounder. A Street Judge played by my son Judge Bailey.

Next is their Patrol leader, a senior judge and part of the SJS. Very proficient in lang range combat. I get to play him in a rare game or too. I am going to convert a little to give him a Lawrod and try to fix his chin.

Now this next one, well.... I really didnt like the look of the Medic Judge, I did like the look of the tech judge though. So I did a little converting. My green stuff work is abysmal, but once painted I think it'll work well enough. Also stinks that out of all the pics, the unfinished model were the best. :?

Hi there, I wouldn't worry about your greenstuffing, the painting will hide any errors (I can't see any anyway!).

Awesome painting, the gold could perhaps do with a highlight just to get it gleaming. These guys are starting to look like they got lost in the cursed earth for a couple of days!

Thank you, Ill highlight the gold and possibly lighten up the green, it does look really dirty. Just trying to find the time to paint up my "medic" first.

Here is the medic conversion all painted up. Just couldnt do the face rigt. I dont know how many time i redid his face, thus ending him up as that .... monoeyed freak. Oh well.

Here is the Sector Chief for 301

and the Chief Psi for Sector 301, one of three.

I hate how you dont notice all these little mistakes until after you have the post ready and previewing. arrrgghhh. Well soon I will have the ape gang up, (painted mainly by my kids) and the fixed up pics of these. One last thing.

What color should I make her hair??

100_6884.JPG

That green's looking a lot more sharp, nice job.

As for her hair... you've got a blonde and a redhead, why not complete the collection with a brunette? A lighter hazelnut might look nice (and is easy to change to a darker tone if it doesn't look right).

Although it is hard to be certain from the photos it looks to me that the "nice wash of brown" gave the earlier figures better definition than the later batch.

I reckon that the med and Karyn etc could do with the same. If it dulls the gold (or other colours) too much it would be a quick step to highlight them with the original colour (or maybe even a slightly brighter one if you are feeling ambitious)

Definition is the primary thing though. It is the most important consideration when painting gaming miniatures I think. You might be pleasantly surprised with the effect that a quick wash of Citadel Devlan Mud would have on the figures.

(disclaimer: best to experiment with something else before you commit on your new Judge figures though :) )

Alright, light brown. Ill see what I can do.

Cheetor. I definitely get your point about definition. Funny how it takes some one pointing it out to notice. Alright back to the palette and practice my highlighting.

Maybe just an 'edge' highlight of gold and Mithril Silver mixed, along the top-most parts of the eagle?

(I know, the things are meant to be high-tech body armour, not actual gold...)

Its been awhile since I posted anything of use but here are a few. Im rather unhappy with my photography. Nonetheless.

A chimp and gorrila painted by my son.

What I'm using for Gansters:

This is what Im having fun using as a mutant tribe. there are more but this is the core.
100_7713.JPG

So these are what Im using at the moment, and what I used to introduce the game to my local gaming store.

Maybe I should have spread these out over the course of a few days???

I like the use of the Kroot... err, the mutants in you're JDMG's.

I've got 3 sets from my Tau battalion boxes around here somewhere?
It'd be fun having Judge Dredd gun them down.

Never even washed the Kroot I have, didn't really like them for 40K.
But you've given me food for thought.

Thankx,

Oh I fell in love with them when they were introduced. They were just so full of fluff!

MY thinking is: I have models from all types of things, why not use them, plus they fit in great!

I know alot of people don't like the idea of mixing mini's, I dont care as long as the came is fun and they sorta fit in.

Nice, unfortunatly I dont have anything that would fit very well for citi def.
I got lots of "steel legion" that are a a wasteland apocolypse cult.
and Orks. Orks are great muties!
NO idea how to use SMurfs. best Ive come up with is is souped up droids.

I'm guessing Space Marines?
You could us any SMurf scouts as CitiDef maybe?
Rattlings as mutie snipers.
Necrons as Robots? Maybe.
The best would be IG Catachan as CitiDef.
SMurfs? Nope. I got nuthin.

So rather than starting a new topic I will just revive my old one if nobody minds.....

I have done a quick review and painting of both the cadet judges. you can find them here at:

The Judge Dekker model was a treat to paint.
As you can see here I was making a comeback to inks. you can tell by the grainy look of her bodysuit and right glove. On the other hand I think the hair and the colors came out crisp and bright.

Now the model itself was nice, a female that was sculpted for action asnd not for psionics. The sculpt just screams leadership, weapon up, hand pointing. It just evokes "Ramirez! Cover that intersection!" The hand is a little bulbous, thus kinda ruining the point, but now I dont have to worry about the finger snapping off or bending, an then looking like it does now.

Otherwise everything else was beautifully sculpted, the detail on the lawgiver, the badge and the belt buckle were incredible. I unfortuantly do not have the skill to use that level of detail. Overall a beautiful model.

So I am goint to try my hand at a block war.

I will have 5000 pts worth of citiblock

3700Pts Justice Department

The Helicopter is to be a Sirroco citidef Gunship. I just cut the manta in half and boom. Gunship.

The hovership is to represent the Manta... I know, a little small but hey better than nothing.

Also the Justice Dep has the choice to stay as is or call in even more backup. Her choice.

any interesting finds will be put inthis topic.

No offense, but she looks like she's got sand on her. What kind of primer are you using? It may be causing that to happen.

The problem is that I used inks on her. They let every nook, cranny, and peice of detail show through. I fI had used regular paints you would not have seen the grain. She looks wonderful from the table so I dont think will redo her.
Heck you cant even feel the grain, thats how small it is, just that the inks and lose ups let it all show through.
