Scythe

Anyone got a good handle on RQ weapon stats, and care to speculate on the stats for a scythe? I've got a necromancer who really wants to camp it up.

They are listed in the equipment list in A&E page 14. Stats are the same as a bill but with a -10% to skill penalty. They also add +10% to Influence tests when intimidating someone.

Sounds ideal for a Necromancer!

The 1d6+1 damage seems a bit light, but it is going to be difficult to use as a melee weapon due to its design, hence the -10% penalty.

IMO I think I'ld rather up the damage to the 1d10 or 1d12 also increase the penalty to 15% or 20%, its two handed and a hit is going to be as good as one from a two handed axe even if the angle of the strike is skewed.

There is a military version of the scythe called a war scythe, not dissimilar to a fauchard in design. The blade is mounted in line with the haft making it far more practical as a weapon.

Maybe assume the war scythe does higher damage as Exubae suggests. I'd be inclined to suggest 1D8+1 (maybe 1D8+2) which is more in line with a glaive's damage and drop the -10% penalty to allow for the straight design.

A truly sadistic Necromancer could have it modified to be Serrated, Spiked or Hooked as per A&E p46.
