Scout reroll question

If you have multipe scouts do you have to designate what they are doing first, all of them, and then make their rolls or can you pick a scout make your roll, pick asecond scout and male its roll, etc?
You can do them one by one, at least that's what I've always done, and what my opponents have always done at tournaments. Pick one, if it fails then the next scout tries again on the same target, if it succeeds the next one moves on to the next target. Remember to keep track of which scout succeeded on which target, since the bonus is lost if the scout is destroyed or loses its scout trait.

Its not actually specified like that in the rules but from the wording of the Scout trait, it always refers to the singular scout ship. It doesn't mention declaring all their actions, then making all their roles. I think that is justification enough for doing them one-by-one.

This is what we do "here". A couple of us are old EW folks so we figured that even if a scout isn't "seeing" a target it is always in communication with his scout brethren so at least they could be working the problem in concert.

The EA and the Minbari both have scouts that are quite capable in their own right, though they can't brawl as well as White Stars can.

Dark Angel

Oddly enough, I never see them brawling. Usually they are kept to the back of the fleet to be kept safe. Nor do I see them being used in numbers.

Hmmm, makes me wonder how well a quintet of Explorers would do in a 5 Pt Raid...

I always used to use my Corvans as attatck ships - guns in all directions, stealth and interceptors - they would be all right ............probbaly :)

Not so much now as its a Skirmish ship and one gun - hard to get one instead of a Demos or a Maximus............

They would take a looong time kill and would seriously annoy anyone who brought a beam-heavy fleet.

A friend has taken an explorer in our current campaign and is actually one of the better ships for its PL. It has survived every encounter to date and was instrumental in crippling a Sharlin in its first encounter.

I want to find a group that I can get enough games in with that I can get the chance to field some of the Just Plain Annoying fleets I am coming up with...

Well, there's an expensive option ;)

You would have had fun playing against one of the guys I used to play with at the (now defunct) wargame cafe. We used to play 6pt raid, and one night I ended up facing 18 hermes. (this was 1e) Or the infamous night of the 108 flights of delta vs. That game is the reason almost all of my fighter counters are loose in the box.

They would probably run out of crew before doing much damage to the enemy. Though the fighters and troops might achieve something.

So Just Plain Annoying, "JPA", is now an official descriptor ;)

Have any of you folks been "stacking" scouts on one ship to overcome stealth? (My group has...) For example, two scouts successfully "ping" a target, so its stealth fall by two points. I just noticed that no one seems to have mentioned this, and suddenly wondered if we were doing it right...

You can only drop stealth by 1 using scouts. You can however use multiple scouts lowering the stealth of a ship for redundancy purposes, incase the scout that lowered stealth gets destroyed before you can direct any major firepower towards the scouted ship.

Well, how would YOU like to face 5 Explorers or 5 Raid worth of Thunderbolts?
or a whole raid point worth of Tethys supporting an otherwise relatively normal 5 Raid fleet?

Depends on what I use. Mostly, I just smile, call you cheezy then proceed to roll dice. I like a challenge. ;)

Can I ask why ? Are you trying to playtest odd combinations ? I far prefer to play people who make balanced/ interesting fleets or if we play in a scenario - escpecially with the limited time I have for gaming?

just wondered why you would want to be "Annoying"?

Because, after a while, Balanced gets Boring and I like interesting games.
Get a coupls people like me together and you get some really strange games that have you laughing for months...

Ever seen equal BV of Atlas vs Hornets in CBT? Or all Hovers on a perfectly flat, all concrete map?
