Scout re-rolls Question (weapon system definition)

I've been digging through many of the existing threads but could not find an up-too-date answer to this question:

What constitutes a "weapons systems", specifically with regard to Advanced Missiles?

Does it apply to "whatever is loaded in the Advanced Missile Rack", or does it apply to "Missiles in general" or "just the missile type specified" i.e. HARM missiles, OR Long-range missiles (etc etc)

I would also like to clarify how this may, or may not, apply to fighters carrying missiles or torpedoes as these are often/usually different i.e. "Missile rack" "Torpedo rack" "torpedoes" etc etc.

We have always played that a scout re-roll works on a single weapon line of a ship, station or fighter:

eg:

A Apollo Strike Cruiser could gain a re-roll to one of the following (per successful scouting roll - a ship can benefit from more than one Scout):

F Advanced Missile rack (whatever type its using)
A Advanced Missile rack (whatever type its using)
P Railgun
S Railgun

:)

So a fighters missile rack and an Advanced Missile Rack are different weapons systems...even if they happened to fire the same missile / torpedo?

(not that they do, but "If they did"... iyswim?)

The distinction is the "type of weapon" rather than the ammunition in it, so that all rail-guns are rail-guns, regardless of being heavy, medium or light?

I am not sure what you are asking

If a Scout successfully succeeds and gets a "re-direct" on a enemy ship - every one of your ships that fire on that vessel gets to choose one "weapon line" or system and gets re-rolls on it - it makes no difference what type of weapon it is - the only important thing is that it does not work on weapons with beam, energy mine or Twin linked

so for example a Squadron of Dilgar ships (Mankhat, Garasoch and Jashakar) firing on a Earth Alliance Cruiser which a Jashakar Vi has achieved Re-direct on: The EA Cruiser is in the front arc of all three Dilgar ships

The Jashakar may choose either its Bolters or Light Pulsars
The Garasoch may choose either Heavy bolters, pulsars or light pulsars
The Mankhat may choose either Heavy Bolters or Advanced Anti-ship Missiles

Each ships choice can be different and its of no relevance what the other ship chooses.

does that help? :)

aha! I get it....

yes, thanks.

I was running under the impression that you had to chose a particular weapons system that "all the ships shared".

right, got it now, thanks Matt. :D
