Say something nice about Armageddon or ACTA in general

I think ACTA is a great game. Easily the best B5 game there has been. And a good game in it's own right.

Love what Armageddon has done to the Vorlons.
Shadows fairly good as well
Officially fixed the whitestar and Matt's going to fix the Sag next month.

Unlike some people I like the Armageddon fix to fighters.

There you go good things about armageddon.

CTA is my favorite space combat game of all time. Playable with a large number of ships. I love the crit rules. The fleet lists are distinctive from one another.

Armageddon has really good rules tweaks. There's some good ship designs as well.

I've never tried to break the game
Surely this is a playtesters job???

Anyway back on topic... I like ACTA because it is simple to learn, yet difficult to master :D

Tell me about it  I thought the cover was going to be for Sky full of stars.

I like the new fighter rules, the changes to White Stars, and the splitting up of the Earth Fleet (though I will agree some of them need more ships).

As for ACTA in general, my favorite aspect is the campaigns. It tends to encourage different tactics than a simple one off game.

It adds the ancients, which are hard as nails... ok so they aren't a fleet that will see much action, but it's nice to know that they have an apperance in ACTA.

The Earth Alliance is now broken down into 3 eras, which as an Earth Alliance player I think is the best solution to such a large selection of ships and time periods, makes it feel more organised. The infamous Sagitarius (spelling) I think is fine as it is, the Early years Earth Alliance does need something to help it's limited ships... how those ships beat the Dilgar is anyones guess.

The fighter rulkes make them useful now... unless fighting Vorlons. Some have moaned that they are now too powerful, I'm not sure I'd agree with that just as yet. If they are too powerful I'd say if they moved first as well as firing first this might help address the situation.

Other than that it brought some nice if expensive (both in Priority Level and £) ships to ACTA.

ACtA provides a game with a great feel for Babylon 5, with cinematic moments and every race having a distinct feel. All of this though a simple rules set used effectively therefore keeping the feel by maintaining the pace of the game.

i like acta because b5 was a landmark tv series that i love and miss acta allowed me to play games in that universe i never was into space ship games but acta changed everything its my no 1 game now its quick easy to learn and enjoyable
ps i love the marathon too

I share a lot of the feelings already expressed, but mostly I'm glad to have a game to concentrate on after I got fed up with Epic...that took a lot of effort! I've always liked Sci-Fi, and I think space combat is way cool! so this is good stuff for me.

The game is simple enough that it's got a number of my friends (back) into wargaming, which is a definite achievement.

Armageddon fixes work, stealth not so nasty, fighters now seam about right, capable of doing something but not making capital ships useless.
Shadows and vorlons now scary enough to make new players wet themselves and hide in the corner, very cool!#

All in all, it's all good.

Rather an old thread, but:

The fact that it cannot be argued that mongoose don't listen to their player base...

To answer the comment in Signs and Portents 38:
Yes, we do know we are. And we're very happy with you. Thanks.

I'm sure there was a reason (let us know if you remember what it was ), but the fact that you've calmly and politely answered everyone's complaints by switching the saggitarius to a sensible statline within - what? - a month, maybe, proves that you do actually take time to read these forums and you do act on what you see here.

Which in turn encourages us to keep posting.

P.S. Eyehawk! Yay!
