I decided to make this one a working ship instead of a pleasure boat. I imagine universities would operate a few of these for research and educational efforts since they are fairly common, and suited to being modified with labs, and workshops.

Well that about does it just a couple more to do, and I have the core book vessels completed.

after that, I think I'll pack up the ships, from multiple angles, and put them in some scenic shots. I will bundle up a batch of high-resolution shots, and scenes and if anyone wants them they will be over at the TAS. I checked and it's fine to publish them, and I thought I'd give folks some resources other than the ones out of the core book if they wanted to use them :D

I am not a fan of this one. I think you made the front too flat and angular. Part of what I loved about the original Safari Ship was the smooth flying wing feel. But that is just my opinion. I like this look much better:

To be honest so do I.

I was working from the current incarnation, to match up with the one in the corebook..... I have a streamlined flying wing version open on my UI right now :D

Thanks and it was a bugger to do

GURPS Traveller has a version of the Safari Ship modified for the exploration of water worlds. I would buy one of these ... :)

Not as nice as the Snowcat but It has a bit more aerodynamic look to it.

Much better.
Thansk I wanted to do this in addition to the first one, just to complete a set of ideas.
I usually d several different versions of an idea. I am doing a lot of this just to practice and develop my skills or play around with an idea to see what I can mutate it into.

Great work! You've really been crushing it with the classic ships lately. I enjoying seeing your variants as well.
Thanks with any luck I'll have a collection put together soon :D

I fully agree with this. It's sort of like the Type Y Yacht being used as a Lear Jet.

I have used a Safari Ship as the PC ship. Gut some of the extra Staterooms and turn it into a light merchant ship.

It's a basic 200 ton Hull, that's about the right size for a Group. It's not the best for cargo handling, or prospective trading, but it is comfortable, capable of refueling itself. and has internal space you can modify. A good ship to pick up on the second-hand market As a GM a used survey, safari vessel has ALL sorts o potential plot hooks.

Especially if you consider it could have been a ship that had been the mobile base camp for an archeological/biological group, a ship that has all sorts of places to hide something valuable/dangerous :D

Two hundred tonnes is optimal; I think Firefly is about that size, though it's hard to tell with Hollywood hammerspace.

I bet you never thought you would be smuggling yourself in them.

the specs make it about 200 tons. But there are conflicting specs...

200 is one of those sweet spots in the setting. Just big enough to be useful, small enough to be easily crewed by a party. One pilot, one engineer.

well, there is that situation. with the addition of smuggling compartments in the new rules you can add the niches without having to wing it :D

Don't forget a navigator if you have a jump drive (not that the pilot couldn't also be a navigator).

Not new to the new version. They where around in Book 6: Scoundrel.
