Sabotage game

Mr Evil

Mongoose
well campain got running tonioght with 2 games of sabotage, one V a mates airfeild and one V my airfield by the mate who was just attacked

first game was USMC AD took 1 squad of USMC maxed out to all 17 men as rules state he can only have one squad one support choice. 17 usmc or 1 squad of recon !!! wasa tough choice lol.

defending was 500 points of brits with a comand squad and rest infantry (no armour allowed)

at first it looked like the sheer weight of fire power of the usmc was going to win, but eventualy the alarm was raised and the comand action saved the day.

second game same terrian was the brits (attacking this time) V my PLA

brits took as thier squad choice the SAS (makes sence realy)

i took 1 comand section and 5 FAV's

first action SAS redied within 10" of a sentry raising the alarm !! brit player kicked himself in stupidity, my next turn with help of comand squad all my FAV's moved out at full speed and shot SAS to bits... game over !!!!

have to say for this game when pla have to chose a squad or suport choice it will have to be 3 FAV's without question !! i know i will as soon as i shoot rais the allarm but staying in cover will make them immune to most comand troop and support weapons currently out theor as it seems no transports are allowed !!! this could be the one mission the PLA will shine.

only took one pic and its not very exciting due to small forces on a large table.

any way first battle of the campain and all looks good for my PLA :D no points lost and a force multiplier of +30% compared to the brits who are about 300 points down and no force multiplier and the usmc who are also around 300 points down with -10% force multiplier :D

Poor Brits....

Seems a bit odd that only the PLA get a vehicle or transport, it does give them a distinct advantage especaily against the EFTF and USMC as neither have any decent weapons for dealing with them yet.

pla dont get a transport.

its one mission the pla can do well at, but SAS have snipers that make a real mess of the FAV, as do GL's and the mea again will be able to take on the FAV. maybe one reason why the pla fav is as weak as it is, ie game ballance.

also have to note i tend to win most games i play against the friends that were playing that night, they play for fun, but arnt going to win any awards for tactics, i often give them some ideas to help they get a win at times.

but for those who pla pla, when sabotage mission comes up

on the attack take as your unit a 3 vehicle squad of FAV's its the most points exspensive force you can take, but remeber the first shot you shoot will sound the allarm.

on the defence pla need to take 5 FAV's and a comand squad, as defending against SAS they are ace due to armour modification and fire power, keep them in cover to keep safe from USMC attacks, also use your force multiplier if you get one to add an extra FAV.

so anybody playing PLA dont forget the sabotage mission is your friend. il report on other missions once ive played them enough to have craked them for you pla players :D

Perhaps your not as evil as you think you are :).

I think that the sabotage scenario is one of the most interesting. Can't wait to play a few.

Hmmm he does do that, then goes off on what MIGHT be a cheese army for the game..... Please note the word MIGHT, I have only seen the stat cards for the fav and never seen seen one in use, I also have read the sabotage scenario but not yet played it (I tend not to understand scens until I have played them a time or 2).

well as for cheese, maybe alittle, but the rules state support units maybe chosen, now EFTF have the SAS the USMC have recon and MEA have fedyeen.

PLA have available fast shopping trollys with big guns, now most forces will do sabotage mission by usinf stealth and trying to eliminate units without setting of alarm, while the PLA using my tactic have to hit hard and fast and totaly ignor stealth, just a diferent style of play, poor pla will be up against 500 points plus force multiplier in the mission, so definatly out numbered in points and first shot sets of the alarm from the PLA as none of the FAV's have supressors on their guns.

on the other hand a airbase being attacked at speed from 3 FAV's does feel as right as an air base being attacked by a unit of SAS or fedyeen.

reason it worked so well was enemy didnt exspect a force of FAV's (they realy should know me better)

over the campain the PLA are at a disadvantage i feel as a loss of any unit is a huge wack on your force composition.

Actually when you put it like that it does make sense to have an attacking force of FAVs, in fact the SAS (well the LRDG which became the SAS) used to do something very similar to the Germans in the desert...

However using them in defense... 1 or 2 yes, but entirely...........

from a game point it makes sence as the PLA are so out ranged in the game, not knowing what direction enemy will attack from means you need to redeploy as fast as possable, and get as much fire power out as you can in an atatmept to pin the enemy or wipe them out. the answer is the FAV.

i use 3 MGP ones and 3 conversions to make up the numbers, i wait with baited breath for the box set of FAV's now :) im a big fan of fast attack i used in my SST force sprites in numbers to great effect and fun.
