S&P 69 White Star Plans: Queries and comments

Mongoose
Well having looked through the WS plans in S&P 69 I have the following comments and queries:

Queries:

Presumably the INL weapon stats are in the B5 Universe book, if so a note as to where exactly would have been nice, or even just repeat the stats here for completeness. If the INL stats aren't in the U of B5 book, what are they?

Are the weapon stats as given for the Molecular Pulsars for all 4 banks, for each side (port & starboard) or for each of the 4 bays worth listed in the stats?

I will admit I am a little unfamiliar with how ships are statted in Trav, as yet I have been focussing on the character stat aspects of the game.

Comments:

The INL is mislabellled as the Pulsars, which themselves are unmarked. (Yes I know where they are)

The elevators are not labelled on the mid deck.

Presumably the flyers are hangared in the cargo bay?

There are 56 staterooms marked on the map, not the 53 listed in the stats.

STATEROOMS?!?!?!! We only ever see a Stateroom once in B5 on a WS IIRC, and that's the 'honeymoon suite'. While I accept it might have some on board, most of the sleeping accomodation will be in a barracks form with the rows of slanted beds we are all familiar with. I can understand the stats listing the barracks as a collection of staterooms, but showing them as individual, seperate accomodations on the plans is silly IMHO.

ANyone else spotted anything?

Page 98 where ship weapons are located. Don't look for improved neutron laser. Look for neutron laser, improved instead ;-)

You can't tell me YOU don't have this BABYLON 5 related book?-) I thought that was physical impossibility :D

There should be a hanger bay with Nials.

Only on the white Star II, this is the White Star

Of course I have it, I just haven;'t had time to look through it properly, been too busy reading a book about the SBS recently.

Do they have those funky Minbari beds that slant?

Presumably, though the plans have them in individual staterooms, as I mention above I disagree with such an arrangement on the plans.

That is a 2nd Edition ACTA foible.

Is i t not carried over into the RPG, I'll admit to not having looked too closely at WS stats for it, never having run a game on one yet. But it's the only justrification I could see Matt coming up with

But it doesn't even have hangars listed for the 2 Flyers that are in it's stats. So that at least is a definite error.

The RPG says it carries 2 Nials, no other craft.

Well the S&P stats list 2 Combat Flyers and no other craft.

So not only are there no hangars, but the contents of the non existent hangars have changed, unless a Combat Flyer is a Nial? (My UB5 book is currently about 3 feet down a stack of recently purchased RPG books)

***Helpfully relieves lastbesthope of the stack so he can get to the book he needs...

Vorlon technology--it eats the smaller craft when they dock, and sprouts them around the occupants when they're needed again. ;)

Seriously, though, I think the cargo space is gonna need a refit.

And staterooms? I think those walls are going to have to go. Slanty-bed barracks are what belong.

The elevators are not marked on the middle deck. Is this a misprint or do they really not stop there?

Take a look at any picture of a White Star, e.g. the one on page 70. The upper deck, whose front end is the bridge, appears to be a lot smaller than the other two levels. The upper deck of the plans needs to shrink. Replacing all those staterooms with a couple of barracks full of slanted beds would certainly help. :) Then the lower deck should only have the swept back "wings" and the mid deck should only have the forward swept "wings".

Alternatively, what you're looking at in the plans isn't the standard White Star at all, it's a new ship - White Star Liner. :D

Apologies, I assumed you were trying to make off with my books.

I shall step back to the Ivanova response:

"AndrewW, is the reason you're carrying my books, or should I just go ahead and snap you're fingers off at the wrists?"

Oh, and you can have your arms back as well
