I'm pretty sure the yanks spell surprise correctly. Although they are obsessed with the letter Z. :?

Actually, I believe the whole -ize/-ise thing is a french plot and it's the yanks who are "correct" in the sense that in words with a Greek/Latin origin, the spellings ending in -ize are the older form, and the -ise spellings came from us Brits incorporating more French into the language.

That being said, in some cases the Septics are totally wrong! ;)

I'll get me coat! :)

Dave

You mean "sCeptiques" ;-) (lots of "Sc" in french pronounced "s")
We do not have a lot of "z" around here; in fact "surprise" is spelled exactly the same way.
From Greek and Latin we've got no "z"(meaning letter) (except greek medical words) but during middle-age the "z" sound spelling was often switched from "s" to "z"
(influence from our britanic cousins over the channel that came back to France (some decades after Hastings))
And that reverted some centuries after to counter that "english" influence which now let's us with nearly no "z" for "ize" sounds.
But we can't tell if the "z" thing is US or GB overhere it's always called english.
(only translators or teachers know the difference between american and english languages, it looks very similar for us, no offense)

PS : Hope we can soon see some battle reports for ACTA in SP

You know, I mentioned that to Katadder the other day :) Let's get some dates worked out, and we'll have a clash of the titans down here!

Why not a playtesters mini tourney
Well, you know me, I'm game for anything so long as there isn't a Forest match on at the same time!

Now, how cheesy do you want us to go? (you know that our tactics are generally sound and you all know both Steve and I can take cheesy or "normal" fleets if either of us choose to do so...)

Take beam-heavy fleets, and use TBS to show how good it is

well i did suggest a pak v abbai game to matt would be amusing :D
or perhaps raiders v drazi would be something differant.
for me TBS works better as i dont fluff all my beam dice as beams are crap for me, which is why i tend to play more pak, vree or centauri lately.

alas TBS is a change to the core rules and as such, would not be appropriate for a S+P article :-(
