RQII Generic Fantasy setting

I'm shuddering at the prospect of 'High Fantasy'DL type book covers with a varied selection of colourful characters who look like they are advertising shampoo , washing powder and beauty products !

World of Timotei

The evil Lord Fructis and his villainous Gliseriders persecute the fair skinned, golden-haired people of Olay. Meanwhile the diminutive folk of Pantene struggle in Lord Fructis's shadow hoping for the legendary hero, Max Factor, to return from myth to lead them to salvation.

I intend to start work on this setting immediately. Sod Glorantha and the YK.

Ah, the slippery descent into mad world building. Oh why does no-one appreciate my idea for Trifle World TM the rpg of dessert based adventure? Ride the cream waves, but beware the dangers that lurk within the jelly.

A few years ago, the night before a Continuum kicked-off, I sat around with Simon Bray and Charlie Krank designing an entire world based around the paper slip-proof mat that was in the shower cubicle of the hall of residence where we were staying. The mat had an outline of two human feet on it, so the soles rapidly became continents and the toes separate islands. We had drunk rather a lot of Guinness, I seem to recall, but I also remember Charlie saying Chaosium should publish this new RPG setting. I kept the mat/map. Wish I could find it. It had all sorts of lunacy scribbled on it...

Howdy!

If anyone is interested, I finally have maps of my homebrew world printed out in PDF form. As mentioned in my "101 Days of MR II" post on RPG.Net, it is a pretty Generic World (although recently I HAVE "Runequested" it up with Glorantha-Specific Races).

I have a LOT of detail, including a history, gazetteer, deity list and detailed maps. Although generic (it was originally created for Gurps and recently converted), anyone looking for a homebrew to play with COULD have a worse place to start from, I suppose...but again I AM biased :)

Anyway, PM me and I will send whatever you want. Any feedback is appreciated it (my players are biased, so their Glowing Praise is suspect...probably just a Ploy for more Improvement Rolls!)

One day we should bounce some ideas off each other (and then vow to never speak of what we've come up with ever again) ;)

I've been practicing running Elric with my Son (who is 10) as I bought the MRQ2 rules recently.
He loves the MRQ2 system, but I think will prefer to play a more Standard fantasy setting, IE he likes Elves, Dwarves etc etc.
So since MRQ2 is really written for Glorantha, it makes sense to use it.
BUT I don't want/need to have an in depth knowledge of the world and don't want to buy loads of source books, just enough to have a list of the various races as PCs and to run some scenarios.
However I'm not really sure where to start, it's all a bit confusing.

So since MRQ is about to go wayfarer or whatever they plan on calling it is this where this thread's idea of a generic fanyasy world comes into fruition?
