About Gwenthia
Gwenthia is a fictional setting for roleplaying games, wargames and other creative pursuits, that mixes fantasy and SF. Gwenthia is the name of a planet where humans co-exist with alien races, genetically enhanced and
mutated creatures, and magical entities. If you’re familiar with Glorantha, Jorune, or Tekumel, Gwenthia has a similar approach and feel.
Gwenthia was conceived by Tom Zunder and developed by The Design Mechanism. It is a shared-world project in constant development. More information and detail can be found at www.gwenthia.org.
Scenarios
“…And Stones…”
Mhur Beren’s new house is finally complete, and, as valued friends and customers of this prosperous merchant, you are invited to take part in the veneration ritual that will dedicated the house to the Orange Moon Husband Aeran. This is a most auspicious occasion, and one that should be celebrated with Great Gladness, so what, then, is the cause of deep unease in the spirits surrounding the house? And what of the Night Hag, whose agents walk abroad, intent on bringing death and destruction?
As guests of Mhur Beren, you will be ideally placed to discover the truth behind the stones of Aeranholm.
This is a scenario for up to 6 players. It uses the RuneQuest mechanics from the Mongoose edition of the game, and is an ideal introductory scenario both to Gwenthia and the RuneQuest rules system.
“Like Lovers and Heroes”
The Five Great Houses of the Republic of Telbrin, high on the Meravae Plateau, have always been rivals and, often, enemies. The long-standing feud between Houses Mentigar and Hensereat has plagued the harmony of the Consul for two decades: both houses have suffered deaths and intrigues as a result of the feud, but finally an end to the misery is in sight. Thanks to the efforts of the new Consul Prime, Houses Mentigar and Hensereat are to be joined as Prince Rokari no Mentigar and the Dras Myrsal na Hensereat are to be joined in blessed matrimony. For most this is a time for rejoicing, but for others the wedding signals yet another betrayal. Sinister forces at work on both Houses will stop at nothing to prevent the marriage and thus intensify the feud.
As members of the Henser Prime Cohort, the elite guards of the noble Hensereat family, it is your task to ensure that the marriage takes place, and, where possible, to thwart the sinister plans of the separatist insurgents.
This is a scenario for up to 6 players. It uses the RuneQuest mechanics from the Mongoose edition of the game, and is an ideal introductory scenario both to Gwenthia and the RuneQuest rules system.
Players in any of these special Gwenthia scenarios will receive a free CD detailing the Gwenthia setting, including the massive Gwenthia PDF, and ‘The Iqari’, a detailed study of Gwenthia’s foremost airborne predators.
If anyone in the RQ community wants to know more about Gwenthia, or the Design Mechanism's plans for RQ Gwenthia, please contact me off list. After Conception I'll be making fully written-up editions of each scenario available for general use.
