Royal Navy Paint Schemes

Hello all,

One of my gaming mates has got me (and a few others in our group!) hooked on VaS. :P

As such, I've spent most of my bonus on some of the wonderful ships of the Royal Navy from GHQ.

I was wondering what colours people use when painting. I would prefer to use Tamiya paints for basecoating starting with black, but what grey(s)?

I would then want to use Vallejo paints for picking out the detail. Any tips on choices for decks, camo strips etc? Are there any useful painting guides/sites around?

(Luckily GHQ have some good pics of a number of their ships painted which I can also use as a reference).

Finally, are there any good links (with hopefully colour pic's or plates) or Royal Navy camo patterns?

Sorry if this information has been posted before. I did do a quick search on the forums, but nothing really jumped out at me. Probably because I'm supposed to be working and not browsing forums! :D

Thanks in advance for all the help :)

Cheers,
Will

What you need is this book. I highly recommend & own it.

http://www.clashofarms.com/cas-paint.html

USD $20 is cheap for all the information contained within.

A more expensive route for RN only is this series Warships in Perspective.

http://steelnavy.com/wr_rn_camo_1.htm

Four volumes at USD $22.00each from Amazon.com for only the RN. I'm a sucker though and bought them too. They are really good.

Hope one of these works for you.

Regards,

Burke
