Robot Characters?

Would it, in any way possible, be able to play Robot characters from the core rules?

I know it's never really been there - you've always had to get the Robot Book later on - but with the removal of the Robots and Droids bit in the Equipment chapter I feel like the game is missing something.

Robots and A.I.s have always been a staple of science fiction and robot characters are a fun addition to any Traveller group.

Thoughts?

There was a TV Series, didn't last long, called "Almost Human". I always thought playing a Dorian look alike would be fun, but it would have to be played just right to work.

I think I would rather see the rest of the major aliens in the book before I used the space for robots. Sorry, but I just feel the core races should be in the core book and they are not at this point.

However, I do respect and like the idea of trying to play a robot or android. It would be fun I am sure. :D

Augments. Get someone to cyborg themselves close to 100%. Then, using their stats, reverse engineer them to see how a robot character was made. At least an android type.

Cyborgs aren't the same as A.I.s of course.

The current list of augments are basically just stat boosters though - Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, etc.

What I would be hoping for somewhere, if not in the Core Rules is rules that allow me to build a framed robot, like a vehicle, and insert an A.I. into it.

From that point onward, I'd like options for bio-engineered robots as well as really freaky designs - disembodied A.I (ghosts) or an intelligent toaster for example, like on Red Dwarf....

I forgot the A.I. part. I was thinking General Grievous still. Not 100% robot. What robot in what movie would be your most favorite to role-play as a traveller?

I haven't looked at the A.I. in the core book yet. Is there one? I'm guessing if so, there'd be a tech level for it. And if it can run a ship or vehicle or not.

I don't think there is any A.I. in the corebook as of yet, and it's a concern.

Possible characters from movies and TV:

Rick Deckard - (you know it's true...)
David and Gigalo Joe from A.I.: Artificial Intelligence
HAL - 2001: A Space Odyssey
R2D2 and C3PO - Star Wars
Marvin - Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy.
Bomb 22 - Dark Star
K-9 - Doctor Who
Serge - Battlestar Galactica
The Mechanical Hound - Fahrenheit 541

Etc

C3PO would be interesting for me because he can move as a human does. But is not too humanoid. He's smart, but just above calculator/translator smart. He has emotions (not sure how that works in his "programming"), but not feelings.
