Robcradle

Has anything been written, or is anything going to be written, about Robcradle, the place that will become Pavis?

It would be interesting to see the city at the height of its power.

Although this is an excellent book and highly recommended for anyone playing in the second age, it's not Robcradle, which was originally a God Learner city and not the place of harmony that became Pavis.

Good question though, it would be interesting to see more details of the place

It really depends what period you're talking about. Robcradle itself only existed for about 20 years or so, from its founding by Thanrax in appx. 780 to its destruction by Paragua the giant in 800. I think the old Big Rubble boxed set had occasional tidbits and maybe even a map of Robcradle's ruins, but by all accounts I remember it being a pretty small place, probably not much more than a fort. Moon Design do a reprint of Pavis & Big Rubble which is well worth a look.

By the early 900s the city of Pavis (which in the Third Age will become the Big Rubble) had already been in existence for over half a century (initial building being from appx 831 to 850ish), and very prosperous since about 875. I can't remember off-hand what date the very good Rough Guide is set - but in any case at about the Glorantha: The Second Age time period, the city of Pavis is big, thriving, and a major friend of the EWF.

Hope that helps,

Sarah

Is that still available in the UK? I've been searching everywhere and been unable to find a copy :(

I've seen it in a few places so yes, it is available in the UK. You could also buy it online.

Ah well I'll just keep searching then, so far all the online sites I've tried either don't list it or are out of stock.

Hi Vadrus,

Sorry for getting your hopes up - I hadn't realised it had become so hard to get! Just checked out Tradetalk.De, Leisuregames, etc, and you're right - no one seems to have it at the mo. Maybe lurking on eBay is the only way at the mo...

Have you tried emailing Rick directly at www.glorantha.info? It might be worth a try - it's listed in his Shop pages, doesn't categorically state he doesn't have any in stock...

I did notice that some of Ian Thomson's excellent Pavis stuff was available at the Tradetalk site - Shadows of Pavis and Beyond Pavis, frex. They're worth a look if you haven't already.

Good luck with your hunt.

Thanks, I'll try that :D

Vadrus,

I'm quite certain that I have seen the books in Manchester in at least one games shop. I'm not sure which one but they are all in the northern quarter.

If it comes to the worst you could make a trip here.

I ask, because there's no mention of Robcradle/Pavis in G2A and you think the loss of the source of so much magic would be a notable set back to the God Learners.
Oh well, hopefully Mongoose have some sort of kick-ass supplement in the works. (hint hint)

"The Rough Guide to Pavis City describes Pavis at its height, a couple generations after its founding. Mostly written in the style of a travel guide, it paints a convincing picture of Pavis in its golden age. It would be useful both for an Imperial Age game, or for the more traditional Third Age game, as it documents the Rubble in its original glory. I particularly liked the bazaki-baiting. (One quibble: there would be no Waertagi Embassy, especially in a Jrusteli city like Feroda, since the Jrusteli drove them from the seas in the Battle of Tanian’s Victory.)"
