RIP Father of RPGs

Gary Gygax, the "father" of RPGs (co-creator of D&D), passed away today.

I never knew the guy, but as an old geek, I was surpised to be somewhat saddened by the news. His game played a large part in my youth. D&D also led to a sub-culture of sorts across the world (the RPG industry including the current mmorpg craze indirectly).

"I would like the world to remember me as the guy who really enjoyed playing games and sharing his knowledge and his fun pastimes with everybody else." - Gygax 2005

Yes I'm apparently an idiot, posted about this in two different forums when I found out, only to later realize it had already been posted in a different thread.

You are not an idiot.

Not all of us go to all the areas on these boards and in my case I only go to the Traveller section. So your post was the first I saw.

It is also never a bad thing to share your thoughts regarding someone who has passed on.

Daniel
