Retrieving lost Weapon

Are the two CA it takes to retrieve a lost weapon used simultaneously, or in separate combat rounds?

Eg, Thax & Bek each have 4 CA with their shields. Thax has initiative. Thax attacks Bek. Critical success. Bek Parries. Thax disarms Bek.
Does A. Bek pick up weapon (costing/sacrificing 2 CA) and keep on rolling?
OR does B. Bek use 1 CA to pick up. Thax attacks. Bek Parries. (T-2CA's remain, B-1CA remains). Bek picks up weapon (B-0CA's remaining). Thax gets 2 free attacks.

Thoughts?

Isn't it two free attacks fro Thax in any case?

CASE A:
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Thax disarmes Bek. Both have 3 CA left
Bek picks up weapon, he is down to 1 CA
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Thax has 2 CA left, Bek none
Thax has 2 free attacks

CASE B:
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Thax disarmes Bek. Both have 3 CA left
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Both have 2CA left.
Bek starts to pick up his weapon, 1CA left.
Thax attacks, Bek does nothing. Thax 1CA left, Bek 1CA left
Bek finishes his weapon retrieval, that was his final CA in this round
Thax attacks, free attack this time, his last CA within this combat round.

Or CASE B, 2nd option:
1st combat round:
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Thax disarmes Bek. Both have 3 CA left
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Both have 2CA left.
Bek starts to pick up his weapon, 1CA left.
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Thax has 1CA, Bek none.
Thax attacks, free attack.

Next combat round:
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Both have 3CA left.
Bek finishes his weapon retrieval, 2CA left
Thax attacks, Bek parries. Thax has 2CA, Bek has 1CA left.
Bek attacks, Thax Parries. Bek none, Thax 1CA left.
Thax attacks his last CA, free attack

In technical point of view, it doesn't matter which way to play - result is about the same. We are using option B on our games

In any case Thax is going to have to bend down, which will give an attack bonus to Bek for the 2CA (say that for a target on unstable ground i.e. +20%).

Will the combat last long?

This has since been ruled in the game as two subsequent actions, which is significant, as there was *only* a CA penalty for losing the weapon with the "quick recovery" method, and I think that it makes more sense for the disadvantage to last a bit longer. And, as I'm sure many have already noticed, in MRQ2 combat disadvantage can snowball quickly...

I disagree.

You are right, of course, in regard to number of attacks versus non-opposition (what you call free attacks), but...

It is a complete difference, because it has a major impact on the skill/style and size of Bek's parrying weapon and even (reasonable) CM options

Thax has a shortspear and kite
Bek has a battleaxe and heater
Bothg have combat style weapon + shield.

Thax disarms Bek of his battleaxe. Both have spend 1 CA in this exchange of blows.
Now it's Bek's turn.

a) He spends 2CAs immediately to get both his battelaxe back AND be ready again. He thus has his complete style skill available

b) he picks up his weapon. Is thus again armed again with the weapons of his style, but he has not yet gotten back his stance. What is the malus he get's for defending Trax's next attack ?

I feel it will take 2 seperate CA, one to pick up and 1 to ready.

The rulebook does state on the players SR he can perform 1 CA. then the next player in the SR has their CA.

Otherwise a sorcerer could state on their 1st SR "im burning all my 3CA to cast the spell" on their first SR and have it take effect before anyone else has reacted.

Ah, that was never an option.

Thins is though:
There are actions existant that may be made immediately... like impaling and withdrawing on the spot again.

So the issue above stays open :?

I guess, we'll have to decide that it's either two separate SRs OR we give a penalty... but the nagain, spending 2 CAs already is a penalty :?
