Recommendations for Published Material?

Right now I have the Conan the Roleplaying Game book, Shadizar and Stygia. (those two are going to be the main settings for my campaign so far). I'm wondering if anyone who already has a bunch of books could recommend others that would help flesh out my campaign?

Two things:

1) What kind of campaign is it?

2) Buy Road of Kings (or wait until Retrurn to the Road of Kings) because regardless the answer to number Road of Kings will really help you as a GM.

8)

It's going to be a retinue based campaign, where the pcs are mostly acting in the service of a trade envoy from Corinthia.

Seconded. It's one of the most important books to have, particularly if you players are moving around a lot. Even if there a lot of typos in it, if you want to use sorcerers and supernatural creatures buy Scroll of Skelos. What is your style of play ? Do you focus on roleplaying or rule-heavy ? Are your players power-gamers ? Do you intend to use tombs and haunted places ? In the later case, Ruins of Hyboria is very good.

Well as I'm thinking more and more I may simply adapt parts of the Conan D20 to a low magic homebrew I've already got going--my pcs may prefer that and keep some characters they've already played who are about midlevel. If that is the case then it will probably be a strong roleplaying based game. Furthermore their characters then will either still be part of a national army or will have gone mercenary so that aspect may come in as well.

Then first download the Mass Combat system in the Conan RPG page, it's free. After that, consider buying Free companies, there's another set of Mass Combat rules and a lot of things about mercenary life.
  • PS: The rules about corruption in FC should be discarded.

You might consider Hyboria's Finest. It sounds like you will have a lot of soldiers and nobles involved.
