Real game breaker

Anyone interested in a fictional weapon system that can reliably expected to kill 2-3 Abrams before scumming to fire? And, if used right can take out even more...
It's from a novel a friend and I are writing, we call them Tech Armors, and I honestly feel guilty for converting them to BF:Evo. :( Just as a guess, the best model produced, the Feral TA-01 Knight, would probably cost in excess of 2000points by itself.
I've abandoned the idea of integrating them into BF:Evo, unless anyone actually wants to play with the concept...

This is close to what I figure it will look like.
15m tall
90 metric tons
127mm burst rifle
dart missile VLS
20mm AA autocannon
It can run, has turbofans for jumping, ground effect thrusters to skirt over flat terrain, and a large shield that acts a portable cover. Like a tank though it has thinner armor on its sides and back, except of course for the armor around the reactor...
There's also a support variant that carries a 410mm Field Support Rifle, and a cruise missile block instead of the jet pack.
In one playtest I did, a single Knight killed 6 Abrams before being taken down.

The only problem I have with this is that the game is set in the very near future. Unless someone is Asia has some super-weapon program that they've managed to keep out of sight, there's no way the world would see anything like this in the next 50+ years. Kind of takes away the "modern day" wargaming.

Why not Imperator titan from Epic as well?-)

Main weapons open fire: Everything on this board(and further ahead) instantly vaporised. What need for secondary weapons?-)

Actually, aside from the computer and operating system, this thing is build with mostly current technology, and the electronics could easy be operational by the time the book takes place, late 2021. Plus the whole setting is a alternate history, and the Ferals themselves are about a plausible as a TA.

Oh brother....

No offence Neko but BFEvo is NOT Anime. And if you want to play Giant Robot wars, play Battletech (hell if you play the right house you can even have very mangaish robots.

Well, technically it would be if it was Animated, Locutus.

Nekomata is well within his rights to make Giant robots if he wants too.

Like I said before, I'm not including the TAs in my Feral Evo project. The Feral army will be stuck with their Yoiri Tora MBT and I'm not even going to write the stats for the American TA. Besides, I do play Battletech, not a big fan of it though. I like giant robots and anime, I just don't think the TAs fit into BF:Evo, too powerful. Things will be monsters whenever we actually start the books.

If you wanted to put mecha into Evo and keep it balanced, take a look at the manga/anime series Mobile police patlabor. The opening sequences of both movies show somewhat believable military mecha in action.

Actually I'm planning to use SST Evo for Sol War(2230s) era Ferals, and late era (2550s). Which involve a lot of power armor, orbital drops, and crap like that.

In a word - NO

I can play robotech or battletech if I want to - but - I don't want to

Thought this tread had died quietly... oh well it was a rhetorical question anyway. My favorite anime is Gundam, and the more I work to make the TAs realistic the more I dislike them. But I like giant robots too much to let them go. Oh well, the stats I wrote are for "historical battles" from the books. They are just too powerful for the Evo rules.

Gundam and realistic don't go well together unfortunately. the ficitonal conditions that elad to Mobile suits being a good idea are too specific o be easily translatable over to a real-world game. Stuff like Patlabor, VOTOMS or Heavy Gear are better templates to bring mecha into Evo.

I dunno, apart from my horror of Transformers:Evo I thought it was an OK idea, and the fact you titled the thread the way you did made a load of the critism rather unjustified.

The problem really isn't the power of the unit, but the force structure. In playtesting I've had a Knight kill 2-4 Abrams, standing out in the open, with the tanks in cover (technically the TA was in cover too thanks to the shield) but those tests didn't take into acount the TAs mobility compaired to the tanks. The real problem is that in the story a TA platoon is never less then 3 TAs. If one is damaged and out of combat, then the team is sidelined untill it can be repaired. The only time you'll less is in defensive actions. Of course, you'll never see more then 3 of them in a single fight either, one because they cost (in real world terms) 4-5x as much as a normal tank, the other reason is because of the very small possibilty of a reactor blowout. Plus at company level TA platoons will (whenever possible) be followed by 2 toras, infantry and gunship air support. So, for a 10,000 point game TAs would work fine, but otherwise...
