Ready weapons, are they worth it in SST:Evo?

btw I think it would be a dumb idea to release the cards per wave - I won't even think of playing SST Evo until ALL the cards are out (what will probably take a year).

More like 1.5 years.

But that's why we get the stats in PDF  No need to wait 1.5 years then.

In SST you CAN premeasure. It's in the rules.

And what is it everyone whining about SST Evo? Longbow has always been ready and has always worked. Why shouldn't it work in SST Evo - not every game is a 'shatter mission'.

Yes in SSt you can pre-measure, but SST is not the only game we play... Also I am not talking about measuring I am talking about declaring when you are 1mm inside or outside a certain range.... Or when locking on a boresite in CTA (or any one of a hundred other situations where precise measurement matter). My house rule is if you declare when you move then there is no arguement later, say if the table or models have been knocked.

In games where 1mm here or there matters.....

The changes in Evo do make a difference to the Longbow (and any ready weapon squad) as units now only get 1 reaction. This means the majority of firing is now done during the players turn rather than as succsessive reactions. My complaints goto all ready weapons (only 1 out of the 3 in the game so far is even useable IMHO and thats the Skinnie NB) and only apply if you are playing SST Evo.

If you don't want to play SST Evo then thats your choice :). However me and my friends are also playing BF: Evo and would rather just use the same rule system to avoid confusion.

Also SST Evo is very difficult to play as anything but shatter at the moment due to the sparsity of units.

ROFLOL... Its my house where we play and I get shouted down for trying to suggest simple house rules like if you measure something to be inside or outside such and such range / arc whatever then anounce it then to stop arguements later.....

Wow, that's pretty bad. But still, these are "house" rules that are published rules, by the same publisher, for a highly related game, where you expect similar rules to be published for SST in a few months. I prefer rigorous rulesets myself, and I would have trouble arguing against that.

Bugshot comes in pretty handy if LAMI have to deal with Tankers or Plasma Bugs and the like. Arachnids with "Lumbering" in SST:EVO don't appear to get reactions (same as V1.0) so if you can get within range without being squashed or cooked you have a reasonable chance to badly hurt or kill one of them.

I'm glad somebody finally brought this up, or I would have.
If you can get a Tanker alone within 10", each of your troopers has an Underslung, at D6+2. Thus a roll of 5 will make the Target hit...enough troopers should be able to make enough hits.

Question, though: The Tanker card states the Damage Dice for the Caustic Flame is D10, but in the description it says it will use D6 every time it is used. What does that mean?

it rolls D6 for the number of D10 rolled for that shooting action. it's more of a random burst weapon than stream now it seems

Ohhh, okay, that really does make sense if you think about it.
Many thanks!

(I'm pretty new to it all, in case you couldn't tell)
