Raven's Rules for Sorcery v 1.1

Hi Raven and welcome back.

Which company will publish the RPG books?

Place called Misfit Studios, a _very_ small press that does e-publishing. Sorry no printed books to sign I am afraid. ;> The thing is stil in pre-production, but when they are ready to go, it'll be posted here:

as well as Faith's site. I'll likely do a little notice here as well. You know me- not so shy and subtle. ;>

I feel bad being absent form you guys for so long, but it someone actually _pays_ me to do Raven's Rules for Sorcery in whatever form- which I was going to do anyway- I'd likely be able to allocate more time to do it. So think of this as an investment in both practicing my craft at the very least so I can do it right this time....;>

I have heard about this company but nothing more.
Too bad it will be a pdf-only release because I have only a B/W laser printer.

I love each book cover though. 8)

brilliant news raven I hope it leads to many more projects but please dont be a stranger and pop up to tell how its going from time to time 8)

Well, mostly it's just tedious work. They are shooting for a less experienced RPG crowd, so I am dumbing down a lot of concepts I am afraid. On the other hand I get to write a magic systems for a world amidst the Biblical Apocalypse so that's pretty cool. 8)

Want an apple, anyone? ;>

Sorry you're so snowed under with your new work Raven, welcome back though. We hope to see more of your excellent work here on the forums as your time permits. :)

Well, I'll try bu tthis 'crunch time'. I have to have the magic engine working by the end fo the month, if not sooner. We took two weeks agruing over the basics, and now I have to put it together. Once the snows hit though, my part should be pretty done save for final edits. Promise to have something then. ;>

It's going pretty well though. Spell list is going to be the worst.

And they may want me to write original fiction for the book too....Kewl.

Welcome back!

Well, I'll put you on the Darkness side of the conflict then. How about being a daywalker? ;>

I guess, if it pays well, and if I get to work with Jessica Biel. :D I could take the Daywalker's place, seeing as that he has been dodging the IRS lately.

Notes from the Aeryrie...

The "Rogue Mage" project continues, and while it may have drawn me away from here for a while this absence has not been without merit. Having to whip up 'Raven's Rules' in an organized form- even if a bit simplified- has made me trim a little of the excess off the system and rethink its structure. It also is giving me the experience to make a much, much better v 1.2 of Raven's Rules in the future. In fact one part I created for Rouge Mage will find itself in RR v1.2- the ability to use options to 'tailor' individual casting of spells using additional Power Points. Plus rules on gaining Power Points from nodes and other magical sources, detailed magic item creation and oddly enough, the ability to call on the Divine for assistance. [If you told me I'd be making a magic system for a Christian based RPG when I started this project, I'd have told you that whatever you were smoking was potent...]

Oh, and I have been very generously moved from a contributing writer to a co-writer of the project, so I get the big letters on the cover right next to Christina Stiles. Mondo cool. I guess once this hits I'll officially be a professional game designer. How this happened, I don't know. My guess? That Rogue Mage series author Faith Hunter is right and the Apocalypse really is coming. 8)

Raven

Raven deserves the honor. She's doing a great job on the magic rules--but you guys already know her skills there, I'm sure. I'll be tapping her for work on monsters, too.

And, of course, there may be future projects with her name on them...

Also, I want to add that there will be print copies of the book by Bella Rosa Books, and they should be available through your local game store via Key20. Misfit Studios will be handling all e-book versions through your regular game sites, like www.rpgnow.com

Oh, and rounding out our Rogue Mage game's group (Raven, Faith Hunter, and me) is editor Spike Y Jones, who edited Testament: Roleplaying in the Biblical Era and Faery's Tale Deluxe (among many, many other things), and Steven "Conan" Trustrum, who will be doing layout. Those should be some names you guys might be familiar with--hope so, anyway.

So, please forgive us for stealing Raven. But we hope you'll check out her endeavors when the book's available.

Thanks!

Christina

Well, congrats then, Raven.

I guess I was wrong then. Darkness does pay....

Quote from _Twilight Watch_ of the excellent _Nightwatch_ series:

"You can make money with the Light side. You can _roll_ in it on the Dark side." 8)

I am, but I don't know who else is. Our GM moved to Seattle so I"m running now. If you've got an updated version I'd love to see it.
