Rather basic, noobie questions

Hello all. As some of you may recall, I've recently obtained the Battlefield: Evolution - Modern Combat rules, and I've run into some questions. I'd be grateful if my learned colleagues could answer them.

Question the first: shoot actions. Can a unit take two shoot actions in a turn? If so, must they place the second fire zone in the same place as the first they created, or can they administer the smack-down to another target? Related to this, a Challenger II tank can only fire its main gun once per turn, but with a second shooting action could fire its MGs again. Is that correct?

Question the second: reserves. If a unit of infantry start the game as reserves, can they start inside a transport vehicle or air unit that also starts as reserves?

Question the third: fire zones. A unit can split fire and create multiple fire zones as described, but has to lose two damage dice per fire zone created. Does this apply to vehicles? Most tanks and AFVs are armed with coaxial weapons that must use the same fire zone as the main weapon, but in the case of the Challenger II, it only has one other weapon - with two damage dice. To create a second fire zone and use the roof GPMG would the tank have to sacrifice both dice from this weapon, meaning the tank command just sits there with his thumb up his arse doing nothing?

Yes a unit and take two shoot actions in a turn.
They can place the second fire zone were they wish.
Yes the Challenger could fire its MGs if it wishes in the second shooting action.

Yes.

I'm not sure if it applies to vehicles.

Thanks. :)

Question the fourth: vehicles and missile systems. Can a vehicle such as the Russiank Tunguska fire its missiles as well as other weapons in a single shoot action? It doesn't have the multifire trait so I'm assuming it can't?

On the splitting fire question, you only have to drop 2 dice in total, it can be two from one fire zone, or one from each.

and the Tunguska can only fire one weapon per shoot action. And IIRC there's a misprint and it's cannon doesn't have AA!

Interesting. So the vehicles have to sacrifice dice the same way as infantry to create multiple fire zones?

Question the fifth: scenarios. The scenario Shatter Point states you can't use any reserves. Does that mean you can't use air units as these always move on as reserves?

As far as I know, though in the original BF:Evo ruleset some weapons could use seperate firezones while others couldn't.

I believe air units are an exception to that rule.

Well that's one way to look at it. :) Another would be that he's the one coordinating the fire on two targets.

Ah, I see the confusion:

(emphasis added)

As Lorcan Nagle says, it doesn't have to be from any one specific weapon. So if you want to make a new FZ with the commander's weapon, drop the dice from the coaxial, sorted.

As certain as I can be. It's a universal rule and the vehicle itself, nor the multihit trait say anything about being exempt.

Actually, that leads me on to an interesting question. Is it possible to class a vehicle-mounted weapon as "prone"? I guess the vehicle would have to be stationary and I envisage some sort of bracing by the crew to keep the gun on target. Sounds a bit odd when you look at the way the prone trait is worded, but just curious.

Umm, yes. Now I have re-read the trait for "prone" I see you are perfectly correct and I am soooo shtoopid! Thanks chipmunk for that!
