Raider battlewagon (and civilian ship pics)

Cosmic Mongoose
Hi all. Just wondering, does anyone want to do a trade? I've got a warglobe that I am unlikely to ever put together, and I'm after a raider battlewagon.

I know, the battlewagon should just about be the easiest ship in the world to scratch build, but I'd like at least one of the originals in the raider fleet I'm planing.

Cheers

You could find it here:

I have a pair from AoG, but i kinda want to keep them, ugly and deformed as they are. I remember some fluff saying they were actually converted EA heavy tankers/mining ship. That opened a lot of scenario possibilities fpor me.

So, anything else you might want to trade for that warglobe? It's a smokin' hot ship.. ^^,

Thanks for the link :D

I'd left buying one too late from AOG, only to find that they had run out. So I've placed my order, just in case the gods of little metal ships smite me again.

I think I've seen the same fluff concerning the ship being an ex ore hauler, because I was also thinking of using it as a target in convoy duty. Another 2 CP ship, like the liner. But with reduced weapons and armour.

Sorry dude, the globe's not up for trade anymore, it was a sign of how keen I was to finish the raider fleet, that I offered to trade it. I'd got all the other ships and flights that I need, but like I said, I'd been a bit to casual about ordering the battlewagon.

AoG did some fleet action Ore Barge, which is similar in design to the battle wagon. A bit longer and slimmer, but very much the same look.

Just finished painting some of those. they are about the right size to pass as corporate frieghters for ACTA. As soon as I finish painting my space liner I'll post some convoy photos.

@ Banicih: Well, not to worry. Noble Knight also has some warglobes ;)

Thanks for the info Greg. I always wonder why those ships didn't have pictures. Do you know what the fast and bulk freighters look like? Which one is the psicorp fighter carrier lookalike?

I'll post some pics of the AOG fleet action bulk and ore frieghters I've got when I get home tonight.

(I just looked at the link you gave me, and the battlewagon is gone, I think I might have scored the last one)

As promised.

The smaller ship in the centre is the fleet action civilian bulk freighter. And the ones on each side are the fleet action ore barges

I'm going to use the ore barges as 'counts as' corporate freighters, as they are about the right size for a 12 damage ship. And my group are going to bring back civilian traders (from 1st ed) for which we will use the little bulk freighters.

I have enough of each for a decent convoy. When I finish the liner (white undercoated round thing in background) I'd stick a group photo in the gallery.

Here is a top down view, it is easier to judge the size difference in this shot.

That front transport represents an even bigger threat to the B5 universe than the Dilgar, Clark and the Shadows combined.

 I got six of the ore barges, and my original plan was to use current shipping company names on them. After I did the P&O one I realized that freehand painting is, to put it nicely, not my strongest point. So I grabbed a cadian transfer sheet I had and used random bits of that.

The six ore barges are the mentioned P&O, the Metallica (music company ship), Gloria, Transfer, Number 99, and of course the Games Workshop.

I just used the small numbers to represent rego numbers (or something like that) on the little bulk freighters.

Funny I have been experimenting with letter/number marking recently myself.

Freehand painting of numbers and short ship letter codes works fine for me but I agree with long worded lettering it is very difficult to make it look even & realistic so have finally tried the method AdrianH has promoted many times on the forum and got hold of some ink jet printer decal paper found it works very well for your "own names" etc, (also used this to easily create a unique corporate logo decall). Another method I have recently tried is etched brass lettering. It works great as well and was easier to place and glue than I expected. Used this for a recent large transport & I am going to use it for a space station I am painting, for dock ids.

Thanks for the picture. They're ugly and small enough for the job all right.

Are there tankers/freighters that look like their B5W-scale counterparts?

I found this on ebay a few weeks back. Thought it was a good cheaper alternative.

Old Archieve Mini mold-its about 4 inches long called the Fuel ship:

That archive 2444 ship makes me think of the pak for some reason.

@M1ndr1d3rs. I'm not sure if there are FA scale models for the freighter, and tanker. Not many of the civ ships on the AOG site have pictures. You could try contacting the bloke who runs the site, he is pretty good at answering questions.

MAybe I will when I'm ready to order from AoG again. I'm considering buying their bag-o-targets. The bulk freighter seems a turnoff $9.95. But if the random part is true, i actually might end up having too many of them.

BTW, that 2444 would be a decent psul' shi proxy given it's size. The official model seems somewhat too advanced for the Pak Ma Ra.

Here's a FA scale blister on the Bay
