Questions about Vree (from a Newb)

So, as someone who is excited about the new edition and even more excited that friends of mine are finally jumping into the B5 boat, I was wondering about 2 races: the Minbari and the Vree.

So, is there any consensus about the Vree fleet? Any dogs, any required ships?

In the spanky new 2nd ed the Vree have become fling weapon platforms. They have some serious fire power, and with SM at half speed they can dance around your opponent up close.

You need to take care of some of your ships, the Vree trade fire power and movement for Armour. A lot of hull 4 ships that could die quite easily. The new carrier, the new dreadnought and the new war level ship are all great additions to the fleet as are both fighters, the Tzymm heavy fighter has an awful lot of AD, while the light fighter excels at dogfights. Taking that into account the addition of a skirmish level carrier is a must.
They are an excellent fleet, they will suffer at the hands of fleets with lots of interceptors, but that is their only real weakness. Enjoy

The prevalent hull 4 is a mixed blessing, though. It's easy for TL and AP/SAP weapons to get through, but beams receive no to-hit benefits, so fleets like the Minbari see no real advantage.

Not really,

I just am asking the same question about 2 different races: Vree and Minbari.

I prefer the Vree for their ships and just happen to pick up some Minbari (because I could not help picking them up for a great price).

To the other posters; Thanks! I was not planning to purchase the small sized carrier, but it sounds like they will need it. That and the mile high perspective on the fleet is exactly what I was asking. So, assuming that someone does not field tons of interceptors, I should have a decent time with them.

one tip:


MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE RIGHT STATS WHEN USING VREE. (and moan at Chernobyl alot till he gets the fleet cards sorted)

pwned myself at the weekend by just using the new fleet book to update the cards I had from Chernobyls site and I updated everything but the weapons.....

didnt notice till the last turn of the game.

very annoyed with myself.

And where would the point be in moaning at Chernobyl?
He does these cards for no charge in his own time.

But I would still recomend cehking the cards before the battle anyways.
