Hello everyone. I have a question on the rules. Do you need the Modern Combat book to play Apocalypse Z, or is it self-contained (includes rules etc.)

Second: About how long will an average game of Apoc. Z take? Specifically a smaller game, because this just seems cool!

You need either Modern Combat, or World at War, to get the core rules. Modern Combat would be better because the rules and stats were built with the Modern game in mind.

Play time would be about standard for a Battlefield Evolution game. Fast-paced, and depending on how big of a battle you're looking at.

Remember that Apocalypse Z plays better as a scenario game; the Enclave (human) forces are pretty much hosed in a straight-up fight.

Okay, thanks! About how many models would be needed for a small game? I ask this because I plan to run a few scenarios with a friend and see if I can interest him in a few games.

Depends on if you want a bare bones demo or true game. c.40-60 models should get a decent basic game.

Okay, not really a problem- my friend and I both have horde armies from another game that we can proxy.
