Question regarding reactions

Do squads inside vehicles get to react to the vehicle being shot at? Could they for example disembark? Can the vehicle still shoot if troops inside disembark? If the vehicle is destroyed can the surviving troops react?

I think I read the answer to this on one of Hiro's cards for a transport unit, the Warrior I believe. I can't seem to link to his cards to make sure at the moment, but will try to get the specific answer when I can. I do know there was dice involved. Sorry not much help, but at least a point in the direction. I guess we'll see for sure in a couple of weeks when these transport units come out.

id say no on all accounts as they troops enter the fire zone once all dice have been rolled and alocated so arnt them selves hit by any enemy fire.

That counts for troops in a APC, but what about those riding about in the back of a pickup truck?

Reacting is meant to be troops responding to what happens about them, if their tansport where to come underfire then may well be ordered to get out and engage the hostiles who have fired at the vehicle (I did originaly say want to get out, but that might be streching it a bit far ;) )

troops on a 4x4 i would aloow to shoot back as they become the new weapon on the echnical if hat makes sense.

but any rection by one counts as a reaction for both. ie technical cant move as firt reaction then have a second reaction from its crew shooting back with small arms.

Oh, wow. Sorry Cordas, I read your question as survive, not react. As far as reaction goes, I don't think this has been covered yet, but I'd agree with Evil and say "no" to this. I think the survival roll I was discussing is their one and only reaction - getting out alive.

1: No, they don't count as being on the table for the purposes of reactions(though they do count for determining shatter points, IIRC)

2: Yes, though note that many transports can't react or have main guns that can't fire as a reaction

3: I doubt it - they're not on board when the action that triggers the reaction takes place, though they could react to subsequent actions.

Cheers for the clear up, its what we agreed in game, but just wanted to make sure. I think the clincher is that they aren't deployed when the shooting is done so can't react to it.

Something interesting I noticed while checking stats for this thread though - As far as I can tell, Technicals and Shadows react as normal, and technicals can even fire back!

yup shadow can react by getting the hell out of the area or moving forward as they put their foot down :D

hope they do some shadows with soem .50cals on them :D

Bloody well hope NOT, they are bad enough as is..... Yesterday 2 Shadows took out 2 Type 99s in cover for loosing 1 of their own. Those missiles on them can make them very effective tank killers, adding on heavy machine guns and they become devastating against infantry as well.

I think evil was suggesting having a separate shadow squad with a 50cal instead of the missile launchers. But yes cordas, a shadow with 50cals and missile launchers would be devastating (although I would questions where you would put the 50cals).

In my experience Type 99s often get a raw deal on the battlefield, they have such a low kill score that a lot of units can cause them pain...at least the warrior can't instant kill them, that would be nasty.
