Question on characteristics rolling

That is also one of the reasons I believe the connections need to remain "select any skill". It is one of the few places a Character can have a direct impact on their skills received.

That reminds me. I just read the rules for Pre-Career Education. It says to pick a skill from a list, rather than rolling for a skill. How is that going over with the testers?

Didn't bother me, reflected the fact Students select their classes in many cases. Thus impacting what they learn while in school.

That's my take on it also. Picking classes to take.

Side note: I also do not mind that I could go all this pre-career classes and because of a few "bad" rolls end up doing something different than I planned. Why? Because that is how my real life went.

I went to school for a particular degree. Worked hard to maintain a great GPA. Found a great job after school. About seven years later, I was approached by my boss with a great opportunity, but it meant doing something I had no training or experience in. Today, fifteen years later, I run a department and we do nothing that is even close to my original degree. LOL

Life's dice rolls sometimes toss you for a loop.
