Question : Doeas anyone know if...

Judge Death

Mongoose
Hi all,

New to the forum. I am a keen player of GOMC1, but have a problem with the specialists. The rules say that a specialist that has equipment at the time of purchase cannot be given new equipment or give his equipment to others...Is that right so far?,

If so then what happens if the model is Sent to the iso cubes. when you get him back does he still have equipment.

Iam going off memory because it is my freind that has the rule book (Mine has not arived yet)

As there is no mechanism for purchasing some of the specialist equipment, eg, Powerboard, Batgilder, Advanced Medi-Pack, Shield of Plastisteel, I think we have to assume that they'll manage to scrounge those items on their release - they had a secret spare, for example.

With items with listed prices, the options are: You must pay to re-equip the specialist - he can't be given any other equipment in the meantime. Of course, as a gang member, they must be fielded in a fight if uninjured, so if you're really strapped for cash you could see eg. your Citi-Def Officer turning up with just his Las-Knife.. Personally, I think that's quite entertaining. Also, most specialists with more pricey equipment have a rep so high that they'll never be released anyway: Klegg, Citi-Def Soldier, Assassin, Ape Mobster, Blitzer.. which makes things easier.

You could decide to allow them to be armed with other weapons in the meantime, but I think it's a bit dangerous - you'd have to be very strict to ensure re-equipment was the frist priority of any gang funds.

The other option is to decide that the specialist's equipment is built into their cost, they have a private supply and they will always re-arm with all their equipment after arrest / breakage. This is what we play. It's not perfect, but it is simpler.

Thanks, That makes sense.

We will probably go with the “They have a secret supply”.

Also We have been using a house rule that allocates a time period in the cubes depending on your Rep, not just " if its over a certain amount then you lose the specialist for good". So for example a very high rep could mean being put away for 20 games or more. This is only an option if you have somebody in your group to keep track of this sort of thing. If anybody is interested I will post our table of rules for this.

It's already done for you: Over 10 rep. go away for life. In my house league if the cops take a specialist he is gone, end of story. He is NOT a ganger and as such has a change of heart after a run in with the fuzz and decides to spend his time otherwise...once he gets out of the cubes that is...I find it helps to always default to the worst result for the gangs.

You can always try harder...

Hard, but fair. And quite a sensible rationale. Hmm.

Incidentally, your campaign forum is an entertaining read. I've lurked there often - I loved your big 150th match self-immolation.

big 150th match self-immolation

...it seemed like a good way to end it all off...lots of death. I think we'll go to a hundred games this time...and end off with some Aliens Vs. Judges Vs. Gangs action... :D

Another GoMC1 forum?

Where?

Try searching for Calgary Gaming Forum.. their GOMC-1 section inspired me to do one for our latest, rather rag-tag and infrequent campaign.. you can find it under my WWW button.
