Gauntlet-
Banded Mongoose
Hey everybody, so four nights straight working in the wee hours has finally given me the biggest bugs ive ever seen... I cant recall seeing anyone build a larger arachnid... which is awesome
So- a while back there was talk of how people would make their queen bugs, and the nature of queens, and I purposed this idea....
Well a looong time later and I finally have the parts to do it...
I was inspired by austrailian honey ants, which take a worker and immobilize it in the underground hive, feeding it and it stretches and stores honey for the foodless/dry seasons... aborigines will occasionaly dig them up and eat them... I have to say they look tasty to me...
So- these things are called repletes and in a sense so is this bug, I consider it a arachnid queen, but not the super hive controlling queens of the CGI or the Mongoose book, this ladies' profession is very very clear! Crank em Out! She is more accurately described as a factory bug.
So as you can see I merged a thorny tanker and a plasma bug together to make this monster! She is served by 12 chariot bugs (if I had more I would add more) the little servants come from a hole to her side wait underneath for an egg to be deposited from her ovi-poster (plasma bug piece) which is filled with a honey-esque nutrient solution,
once dropped the servant carries the egg to one of three entrances which lead to vast store houses for eggs as reserve forces for the arachnids. The eggs are species neutral and require the attention of a nurser bug to be born as anything other than a worker bug... this would occur at hatcheries closer to the surface.
Anywho, the tunnels lead back tot he orignal tunnel the servant came out of ... thus they act as a living tribute to the assembly line.
Now this piece is meant as the objective for an underground scenario, particullarly say for pathfinders charged with capturing one, a rarity as the Arachnids would usually kill their queens instead of let their genetic secrets be unveiled. (From the Book) As such Im writing a pretty detailed scenario for this piece, but the Queen's abilities reflec tthe sheer numbers of bugs surrounding and protecting her as opposed to any telepathic abillities like Mongoose's.
Anywho Ill be posting the scenario rules with some pics of the Queen on a terrain board soon!
Hope you like it!
