Qualification for subsequent terms in the same career

If you elect to stay in the same career, do you have to make a qualification roll for subsequent terms?
As I understand it now, of course it could change, if you survived the term and remain in the same specialty you are able to remain in the career. Otherwise Qualify Rolls might be needed.

There's that one roll to see if you stay in a career. But you don't have to do another qualify roll if you're not getting kicked. Looking....

ADDED:
Ok. No roll is made other than survival roll to see if you stay in a career. You cannot go back in that same career for your next term. And you cannot go back in that same career if it is one of those military ones, unless you get drafted back in. You can go back into a career on your next/next term if you pass the qualification for it again, if it's not one of those military ones... blah blah....

Technically, the survival roll is your re-qualification roll for staying in the same career.

I should mention here, one of the internal playtesters argued long and hard for a 're-enlistment' roll and, thus far, i have said no.

This is partly to avoid yet another dice roll step and mostly to leave it in the hands of the player.

For my AI players, their code decides if they are willing to risk ageing their characters four more years at the end of each term (unless they rolled a natural 12 and are forced to not retire yet).

But doesn't the Survival roll count as the Re-Enlistment roll? If you survive the career (no Mishap), then you can stay in. If you roll a 12 you HAVE to stay in and if you roll less than the number of terms you have served, you have to get out.

I LIKE that it is a combined roll now instead of 2 rolls like it was in older versions of Traveller.

I am with Rikki Tikki on this one. Please don't add another roll. Let the Survival roll do it's job. It does a great job with what it was designed for.

I think the reenlistment roll should be resisted. The implication on the flow chart, incidentally, is that you should roll for qualification every new term. Ought to be looked at I think.
