Pulp Traveller would it be possible to happen ever?

:D Hi Mongoose Peeps I was wondering I was reading how some players were using your Traveller rules for Pulp style games. And as you have been putting out materials for the use of the traveller rules, while not the OTU but other sci-fi. I was wondering if you ever thought of a Pulp style campaign book with nazi's to foil and Dino's and thing's set in that style of campaign?

I haven't heard anything from Mongoose on something like that, but since the Traveller rules are OGL, there is no reason you couldn't put together something yourself and publish it.

A Traveller pulp setting might be nice, but does it really have to include
them again ? :(

I am slightly tired of seeing these guys in almost every pulp game, and
I would really welcome the use of some other bad guys for a change. :)

I ran a Golden age of Si-Fi / Pulp fiction game useing ....... the old Champion Super Hero RPG rules on a low power seting. It was a blend of Jules Verne / Doc. Savage / Tarzan / Flash Gorden. I kept a tight reign on the few types powers the players could get and it worked ok.

I see no reason you could not do that with the Traveller OGL, if someone is willing to do the work needed to define the settings and limits needed.

Like, oh say, a mustache-twirling Emperor of an evil space empire...:)

I think various criminal organizations or religious cults would offer more
variety than any nation's "official" bad guys, so I would look at material
from, for example, authors like Sax Rohmer (of Fu Manchu fame) for cri-
minal masterminds and their henchmen, and perhaps at material from
Call of Cthulhu for cultists (without the mythos, preferably).

How bout Schwabians ? They're always a good choce for bad guys...

I mean, I have this bavarian friend who told me that, anyway......

Oh, Gods, on the Virgin 1 digital channel they're reprising the episodes of ST:VOY featuring "Captain Proton" on the holodeck ...

And now, to cap the torture ...

I cite, as reference, William Gibson's short story "The Gernsback Continuum." Also, to take Traveller into the realm of steampunk, Gibson and Sterling's The Difference Engine.

Just wind up, add a pile of anachonistic tech, applying the rules for prototech and retrotech for technologies three or more TLs distant, and let the ticking brass clockwork monstrosity go ...

I have always been tempted to post something like that on a certain kind
of German forum to spend an entertaining evening watching a verbal civil
war reenactment ...

I do not have the attention span to write any sort of book, which is a shame as I get lots of ideas but lose them before they are written down. I can run the heck out of a game. But feel that I am a little deficiet in the attention span to produce something like a book. I would feel bad about doing subpar work. When others with a talent for such could do better then myself, and no I'm not being mean to myself just being a realist.

Flash Gordon?

As envisaged by Dino De Laurentis.

....which was surprisingly faithful to the original comic, in both look and feel, as well as story.

....the soundtrack was just icing on the cake...... 8)
