Psion Ships?

Teleporting Marines have been around for a while.

I would make the Psion Ships experimental. I don't want to tip the balance too much.

I would let them have machine nterfaces, but a Psionic Drive might be too much. OR, it is possible, but the Talent is so rare that they have only a dozen ships in the entire Consulate, so they might not want to risk them in a war unless things were going very badly.

They might however, get used in a Core Expedition...

don't know if you have to do that in Peter f Hamilton's book there are "psion" style ships called void hawks and blackhwaks that are mentally bonded to their captians...they are smaller and faster than "constructed" starships but only live around 120 years and have some other limitiations as well. they could have a "prime directive" that keeps them from unbalancing the game or be vulnerable to a certain type of weapon.

I need to really sit down and read through these sections of Psion again and decide how much I want to give the Zhos.

Machine Symbiosis (Psion pg 63) is a definite yes, limited by the number of psions with this ability. So it might be limited to capital ships and some black ops vessels (so the PCs can run into them occasionally).

Ship Integration (Psion pg 67) is what I will make experimental. I think the Zhos are just beginning to develop this technology, so it probably won't be a factor in the 5FW unless Imperial forces begin to move out of the Spinward Marches.

HOWEVER, I am allowing Ship Integration to be part of the Droyne knowledge base. It is what those pesky Droyne in the Five Sisters are working on to get past the 3I blockade. The Imperium has them isolated to keep them away from Lanthanum. Unfortunately the Droyne have figured a way around the blockade by using the Fold Space drive. Once they get a decent fleet built, then they will be making a break for it. Experimental ships could be seen before then as they test the systems. That is probably what the PCs will encounter.

Will the Droyne use the distraction of the 5FW to make their move??? Who can say what those Droyne will do! :twisted:

Will their actions bring Grandfather out of retirement? Who can say!
