Psion - Influences I'd Have Loved To Have Seen

I think I'd have liked to have seen certain influences in Psion. Specifically, in reference to the Psion Agent, it would have been interesting to have seen something like "Doc" Smith's Lensmen, and maybe Lenses (for want of an alternative name to give them) mentioned in the equipment section of the book, along with the possibility of Second Stage and even Third Stage development.

Another influence I'd have liked to have seen is James H Schmitz' Telzey Amberdon / Trigger Argee stories, set in The Hub. Telzey is a precocious young lass, barely sixteen in some of the stories. A genius even in the mundane sense, she is also an exceptionally gifted telepath, with some radical abilities.

Niven's Slaver Telepathy / Plateau Eyes / telekinetic phantom arm psionic gifts would have come in handy in the lists of powers.

And the telepaths of Poul Anderson's "Drunkard's Walk" could have been considered as an influence, along with the unique method used to defeat them (essentially, the more tipsy the subject, the harder it is to control them psychically!)

Also, psionics gained through strange alien technologies (e.g. weird alien negative energy barriers just off the edge of the galaxy) could have been looked at.

Among the advanced powers listed, I missed Psychic Healing, the ability to repair another's injuries.

And the Psion Ships mentioned in another thread. I really missed them in the book.

Psion really could have been a bit thicker, IMO.

Psion isn't OGL so you can't use what was published there, but you can make up own stuff.

I think EDG's saying that the OGL can be used to expand psionics in the fashion mentioned by alex.
