If a NPC or Adventure falls prone he can use a CA to stand up, he does not need to make a roll to see if he succseeds, he will always make it?

To me this sounds strange, to me it feels like he/she needs to make some kind of roll to see if the action succeeds.

I assume you mean if there's an enemy next to him right? Else it sounds a little weird.

I usually handle proneness as distance, so to stand up, you need to succeed just as if you were closing/disengaging as normal, with the modifier for being prone of course.
You can also make unarmed attacks, hope for a CM and stand up through that.

If an character is prone (e.g. was tripped) and an enemy is engaged with him then my rule is that the prone enemy has to make a change range Combat Action in order to stand up. Of course if the opponent has no CAs left he can automatically succeed. You might however want to force him to make an Evade (or Athletics or Acrobatics whichever he prefers) roll to get to his feet in that case.

If he's not engaged and no one's trying to stop him then of course he can just stand up.

Yes if he was tripped by a enemy, that is what I mean. :)

...and this is what I was thinking too, what you are sayingv sounds logical to me too.
