Supplement Four said:Before the polls were set, I strongly suggested to allow a vote to only pick one Traveller edition of choice...and to only have the official Traveller editions listed.
That would give us a more clear view of what Traveller players prefer. Instead we've got the "homebrew" option in there that muddies the view.
Supplement Four said:Even with that, though, the poll results are supporting my original statement...that CT represents about 40% of the Traveller playing public, and MGT players are either new players to the game or are cannibalilized from mostly other, non-CT, editions.
As the MGT numbers climb, we're not seeing the CT numbers decline. We're seeing the other editions of Traveller report in with scant numbers.

The polls don't "prove" anything--I don't think any sane person would say a poll like that would. But, they indeed are supporting my initial statement (the reason, you allude, that the polls were started in the first place).

CosmicGamer said:I don't see how this poll can determine if MGT players used to be CT players, MT, T20, T4 or any previous version or are just new to traveller unless you have a similar poll taken just before the mongoose release. Perhaps a poll asking MGT players?
Myself, I played a CT hybrid (not otu - just LBB for character creation and other non traveller systems for combat and ship creation) many years ago and Mongoose has gotten me back into Traveller.

Allen,
I must compliment you on your post. I was expecting more of a bitter reply that distorts reality, and that's not what you wrote at all. Laced with snarky comments? Sure. That's what you do. But, it was a lot less spiteful that I was expecting.
To be honest with you, I had no idea you were "ticked off" until I read what you posted here. And, I really didn't even realize that we were in a heated debate on CotI. Sure, your responses were a bit heated and snarky, but that's par for the course on most forums.
I just thought we were discussing things.
I hold no animosity towards you, for what that's worth.
Allensh said:Having said that...I did use some rather snarky language at you in an earlier post and that is not right. I apologize. At this point, I would really just like to drop this whole subject.
