Player's Update used in Elric and/or Hawkmoon

Hello Mongoose,

just a quick question from me:
Will the latest rules changes from the RuneQuest Player's Update (especially the new "bumping down" and the two new combat matrices) be in effect for Elric and Hawkmoon, or for either of these two?

More precisely, have they already been included in the rules system in those books?

I was just wondering about that. Previous editions of Stormbringer and Elric always had their own version of the core percentile rules - e.g., in the Elric! RPG, one fifth of one's percentage was the range for criticals, not one tenth: for somebody with 50%, that would have been 01-10 for crits.

As Loz mentioned elsewhere, Elric and Hawkmoon were in layout
before the Player's Update was written. So, the updates are not included.

Ah, I see. That's a bit unfortunate.

But maybe I might even use the new and updated combat rules and opposed roll rules in RuneQuest (which I'm currently playing as a generic medieval fantasy game), but not in Hawkmoon and Elric.
After all, Hawkmoon and Elric may come with their own rules changes and peculiarities that I am not aware of, yet. I am going to buy both of them at the end of this month, so I'll find out soon. :)

Just got Elric and *YES IT DOES HAVE THE NEW RULES*

Yes, the new over 100% rule
Yes, the new combat matrices and opposed resolution in combat

It's actually quite good. Because the rules are now sorted I can read the rest of it without gritting my teeth and the rest of it is good too.

The front cover is very professional with both a good illustration and a very nicely rendered (and readable) header.

I actually give this one 98 out of 100.

Now how about personality traits and an introductory adventure?

Hey, brilliant!

I like them even better now. - In fact, although my players do not appreciate Moorcock's writings and I hence do not have a gaming group for this, I am going to buy both Hawkmoon and Elric as birthday presents for myself this year. My birthday is coming up shortly. :)

Sorry Hawkmoon doesn't though

Too bad. Well, it would have been nice to see them come out with a consistent rules system for a change.

But it's not a catastrophe. Both renditions of the percentile resolution system / opposed rolls are playable. I'll make a decision which version to use once I know when and how much I'm going to use either book.

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I must stand corrected! :D

Clearly the editorial cogs whirred away and set various things in motion and it slipped past my radar. But I'm very pleased you lke what you've seen of Elric so far.

Personality traits? Do you mean stat blocks for the saga NPCs? If so, then Elric Companion will have them. An adventure will either go in there too or into S&P, not sure which yet.
