Planetary Slingshot Effect

I was reading about the slingshot effect of Gravity Wells and noticed an error between the PDF and Hardback Rules.

The PDF version states:
If it accomplishes these conditions, then the ship will automatically be moved an extra distance forward equal to that shown on the Planetary Table and may also make an additional 45o turn (or less) at any time during this movement.

The Rule Book states:
If it accomplishes these conditions, then the ship will automatically be moved an extra distance forward equal to that shown on the Planetary Table and may also make an additional 45o turn (or less) towards the planet at any time during this movement.

The bold part is the difference. Which one is correct?

My PDF version states:

In order to do this, a ship must move towards a planet (in other words, end up closer than when it started) and end its movement within the planet’s gravity well. In addition, the ship must also keep any part of the planet in its Fore fire arc. If it accomplishes these conditions, then the ship will automatically be moved an extra distance forward equal to that shown on the Planetary Table and may also make an additional 45o turn (or less) at any time during this movement.

I'd go with the Rulebook version. I don't know when you got your PDF, but the early versions were reported to have several errors and omissions which had already been corrected in the print copies.

Well in terms of spaceflight mecghanics, it makes sense that the turn has to be towards the planet. Gravity is after all, an attractive force rather than a repulsive one.

Totally incorrect.

Although there is the direction of motion of the planet to take into account as well.
Negligable in the time-frames we're talking about.
Anyway. This is rulesmastes. Enough idle and totally flawed arguements? (Although technically its not an arguement, just a contradiction)

That wasn't me, I'll find out who did it though.
