Battlefield Evolution will become the over-arching stamp on our skirmish/battle level games. The first to appear, in just a few months, will be Battlefield Evolution: World at War, our previously announced WWII game, which uses the latest incarnation of the Evo rules designed for SST, with suitable tweaks for the period. Starship Troopers: War of the Species appears in August, and will bear the Battlefield Evolution logo on its books and boxes. Preliminary work (very preliminary!) has already begun on Battlefield Evolution: Modern Combat, which will be the successor to the current BF Evo, with the updated rules tweaks, plus full army lists allowing you to use your existing models, plus the huge multitude available from model kit and collectible manufacturers.
Cool. Evo Modern Combat. I like this.
Please consider using Pietias and others Evo's card.
At least give them some serious Playtesting!
I'll volunteer to be a playtester if you are!!!!!!!!!!!
I think opening this game to other manufacturers and scales will be a success.
You should be able to sell alot of Rulebooks!

I'll keeping playing the game with my Evo models and various proxies and continue my 1/72 modern collecting.
And continue my ideas for my own Evo settings game!! :D :D :D

Please, please, please give consideration to a friendly agreement with Liberation miniatures since they have a Superb range at 1/72 / 20mm metal moderns!
Promote each other.
Hit the modern historical wargaming crowd with Evo. :)

As much as I respect the EvoCommand card builders - I use a lot of them myself - they need some playtest and balance tweaking - which the authors have admitted -

I like what I read on the blog

Keeping the fingers crossed & hoping all goes pretty much to plan

I just popped over to planet and had a read, i hope it all works out, for me i like the rules first, and buy figures second, and don`t mind if no Modern evo figs turn up, and they is some much in the world to use..

The Key think is finding the right set of rules, thats the hunt, and the figures will follow

I looked at a lot of 28mm modern gaming rules, and shocked by some, hated others, Evo was the best in mix from simple to easy and fun to play...

I have 60 odd 28m painted bolt action figs for ww2 for ROE game, but so looking forward to trying them with the new WW2 evo set....

I hope the Evo rulebook line go`s well, be it ww2 and modern, and of course people all ready have SST figures ready for the new rules this year..

You soon be back on track....

Looking forward about adding logo`s and ideas to evo, and maybe logo for support with peoples own works...

2008 SHOULD BE A GOOD YEAR..........

Good luck finding miniatures with near future weapons like the FN SCAR or the HKM416, or even the Osprey we were once promised.

Quick point - the Osprey was considered, not set in stone. . .

Oookay, so are we getting official models, or are you and me going to have to wait for a third party miniatures model company to get the BF EVO liscense?

Not really. There's some concepts and the prototype, but no "production models." At least, not that I've been able to find.

ITALERI....kit #068 is a Osprey in 1:72 scale for almost nothing in price (i.e. less than 10 Eur)

I remember reading Mongoose continues to hope for a source of inexpensive, but quality, prepainted minis. Maybe all is not lost for those of us who prefer prepaints.

For some reason shops around here are dropping even Revell kits so it is getting harder and harder to get even that kind of modern minis. I am OK to play with 20mm minis when the rules come out and I am not too concerned that all weapons are not exactly what they are supposed to be but it bothers me that there are no OpForce minis in that scale, at least easily found in Finland. Obviously I could order them but I don't want to pay much if I can't see the minis first :P

WWII is not my thing, really because I am only interested at the Eastern Front (Finns and Germans vs. Soviets) and I have not seen much Soviet minis...

I'm a wee bit disapointed for the mere fact that there will be no minis being released by MGP. I did have one school of thought, and that is, why not a partnership with another miniature company similiar to what Mongoose is doing with the future WW2 miniature game? I wonder if that has been an option?

However disapointed I am, it still looks like its going to be a great year :D ! Starship Troopers "War of the Species" and the World War 2 28mm rules is very exciting! Another point is, I still have a great game in Battlefield Evolution which I will continue to enjoy with either private games with friends or events at the LGS and conventions. I look forward to seeing more books from MGP and great products with the OGL. Evo-command will continue to rock now with more options than ever! I am even thinking of if the OGL goes thru, of writing a fictional book based on the game world of Battlefield Evolution. May be fun?

Game on! :D

I always use Ebay. I could recommend a Ebay seller in Ukraine who sells Ace 1/72, lots of MEA kits, t-62's,bmp etc.
Very cheap. Very reasonable shipping. It does take 3-4 weeks depending on your location to arrive.
I've made two large purchases.
I recommend.

So do I understand this correctly? The WWII and Modern Conflict lines are not going to have miniatures produced for them?

yup. There were never intentions of minis for WWII. It was going to be a VaS type release. Evo rules for the 1500 other mini lines and a couple brand recommended.

Anyone have any advice on which scale to use for WWII: 1/72 or 28mm? I don't know much about other WWII games out there in either scale, so links or pictures would be great.
