Pictures from LinCon

Mongoose
Now I have put some pictures up on my "soon to be" BFE fansite...

We played 5 full games in total. Two armies of 1700pts, USMC attacking MEA. The USMC's objective was to destroy com-tower and containers. MEA got bunus points for killed USMC armour...

The pictures can be seen here:

http://www.mctrl.com/LinCon2007.htm

I still have some problems with the gallery "engine" but I think it will be Ok to use now.

Nice, sure wish i'd been there..
Did people like the game?

It's even on the shelves in the local store in Gävle now :D

The terrain has a bit of history of it's own...

My first plan was to run this demo but right before the Easter weekend I decided not to due to to much workload from my "paying" job... At a gaming convention in Gothenburg I got some free USMC and MEA from the Swedish distributer of Mongoose (Thanks Rustan and Vincit!!). I have no terrain but with all the new models I just couldn't say no.

So with 18 days left to LinCon (minus a 6 days business trip to Paris) I started to think about what would be the quickest way to a nice table...

The answer was foamboars, glue, sand and some and paint... (and AT-43).

I am writing and editing a little article about this for the site but in short:

1. Cut "strips" of foamboard
2. Cut these strips into walls
3. Cut openings (doors and windows).
4. Save the window "bits" and cut them for support of the roofs
5. Measure roofs and cut holes for climbing...
6. Paint everything with PVA-blue and apply sand
7. Paint with basic colour and drybrush
8. Done

All of the buildings where build over 3 days:
Day 1, steps 1-5
Day 2, step 6
Day 3, step 7

All steps will be explained further with pictures whithin a couple of weeks on my site...

Yes, people really liked the game. I know one of the stores at the convention sold some boxes directly after each demo.

I am trying to get hold of some of the people playing and buying... I know a group in Strängnäs and somwhere in Såland is playing some... My goal is to try to demo at a couple of more conventions and then maybe run the first tournament early next year...

I am sure it ain't as simple as you make it sound  but it does look finnished terrain does look very good :D. You should submit your finished article to S&P and see if they will run it....

Have just had a chance to look through all the pictures.... Looks like you had some great games there :). Cheers for all the excellent pics, and that board does look very sweet.

Terrain is simple and yet highly effective. Love the fact that the roofs are removable.

Excellent job on the pics. Very clear and interesting.

If anyone is interested in building terrain I strongly suggest going here for inspiration/instructions:

Terragenesis

Check out their step by step Instructions for creating lots and lots of city ruins:

Cardboard Ruins

Basically that is what I did, but I used Foamcore instead of cardboard, and I used a different color scheme as well (Desert).

I'll post some pics soon.

I know you'll be explaining more later, but may I ask what you used for the ground? Looks like a giant roll of suede to me :)

The ground is from www.terrainmat.com

It's the first mat I bought from them and I am very pleased. At first its a bit "rigid" but after some use now it's a good mat to roll the dice on... I will probably buy some green mats aswell later.

Can you remember what mat you bought?

Desert White
Desert Brown/Red
Desert Rocky
Arid

What?

I find the pictures on the site doesn't really give away what the difference is. And I don't want to spend dollars on something looking like crap once I unfold it.

The e-mail confirmation says:

Item Name: Desert 5x7ft 1.5x2.1m
Item Options: Model figure scale:: 25/28mm
Item Number: Desert5x7
Quantity: 1
Total: £51.87 GBP

Strange, it does not state the code for the mat. I am not sure.... I think it is the brown one, or the white... :-)

I also bought some roads, but I would not recomend them for 28mm.

Wierd... Thanks for trying though.

Their site have BROWN, ROCKY or WHITE as three distinctly different versions of desert. And neither of them are shown good enough to tell me if they will fit my color scheme I have chosen for my Houses and ruins. Compared to yours, mine is deeper in contrast, using a red/brown bottom, yellow ocra main, and bone white drybrushing.

Ah well... that amount of dough is a little steep to dish out if I'm not sure it will look good together... damn, maybe I should ahve bought a mat first and painted later... ? I think ROCKY might be best... but "think" is not good enough.

Time to hit the Gothenburg streets tomorrow in search of some cloth of the right color.
