In FA, you could play a game with about 50 ships per side in that same 4 hour time frame!
I'm not into overly complex ship combat games like B5W and SFB, FA and ACTA meets my requirements due to speed of play and campaign possibilities i.e you can acutally fight battles involving many ships in a single nights sitting.

in that case then maybe i should try to get some of the FA books from ebat then, i always felt it was a shame that B5Wars took so long to play

FA was a good game. Certainly faster then B5 Wars. If you think of it filling the gap between B5W and ACTA you would not be far away.

no i got all the B5 Wars books but none of the FA books

You were playing with slow buggers then - it's honestly not that much slower a game than ACtA really (though at about half the ships numerically it must be said). The key to it was grasping that pretty much all the rules you needed were on the SCSs and the two reference sheets (order of play and criticals).

Weirdly enough I found that FA actually played a bit more slowly than B5W due to the fact the fleets were bigger. That said, it was a damn good game as well (some slightly odd translations of some ships, and the fighter rules had "issues", with some being over the top when they shouldn't have been (any with heavy weapons...)).

yeh, it was a nightmare doing games bigger than 2 ships a side, i once attempted a battle with 3 Omegas+Fighters against 4 Primus's+Fighters
it got abandoned after 5 hours and we had only just finished the 3rd Turn :shock:

100% for counters, even if they are just downloadable.WHy should players who either can't afford to buy loads of metal minatures, players how prefer to play with counters and even casual players suffer
