Painting windows

I am debating on painting the windows on my Klingon ships. How do they look on the table? I have seen the pictures but am wondering on the look of it from your point of view when seen from a gaming distance.

I am thinking of using the toothpick method to get the windows to all look consistent and even. How do you guys go about painting them?

Dark grey wash on my Fed ships brings out he windows nicely.

I don't do them on Klingons, but do on Feds. I use a 00-sized brush that has been hand-selected as having a neat fine tip. I use yellow paint, and my off hand to brace the painting hand to ensure a steady neat dot.

I painted the windows on my Klingons a mix of yellow and white. I just used a fine brush and carefully dabbed on the paint. Here is an example:

They look great on the tabletop. I think the trick for tabletop show is to make sure the things you want to stand out are of a high enough contrast. So the light windows on the dark ships shows well.
