P.I.A.T Slow?

Should the P.I.A.T be have the Slow trait like all the other man-held AT weapons?

I'm guessing, and I hasten to add that this is a guess and not based on any empirical evidence, that since the PIAT was essentially a spring-loaded mortar (which self-cocked when used correctly) it had a quicker turn around than its rocket propelled peers (e.g. Bazooka etc) which presumably due to heat and smoke would be "slower" to re-load.

Of course, when it was not used properly, it was a real pig to re-cock as far as I'm aware, so I guess in those cases it would be even slower!

Regards,

Dave

But then the panzerfaust that you don't even have to load is slow and so are AT rifles which are 1-man operations. Maybe they are trying to make up for giving it such a rubbish chance of hitting a tank? I know it was not as good as other 'bazooka's' but not that worse in game terms surely? D6+3 against D10+2 or 3!

The Bazooka round had a wire that needed to be attached to the tube to arm the weapon. This takes time whether fired correctly or not. I don't know about the Panzerschreck, I'll ask some of the German players about it. Why the Panzerfaust isn't a one shot weapon, I don't know.

I don't know about the PIAT, but I think Matt has said elsewhere that the panzerfaust has the Slow trait to represent that more than one could be carried.

I would hazard a guess that the panzerfaust it isn't one-shot because that would involved keeping track of which units had fired theirs and which hadn't. This would bog down an otherwise fairly smooth game.

Makes sense, I guess, since they're not keeping track of all the other rounds, except for the Improvised and regular A/T explosives.

Solved it, looks like a proof reading error on the British Infantry & Commando page, as the PIAT is slow on the paratroop page.

Yes - this is something we have carried over on to Modern Combat, for one-shot AT weaponry that normally has warheads distributed throughout the squad.
